Can anyone tell me what format WMVX Mix 106.5 is in Cleveland? It has a lot of oldies from the 80's along with 90's and current. I always thought it was Hot AC, but I didn't see it on a website that broke out the radio stations by format. Can anyone find out somewhere? Thanks!

Thanks! They play so many oldies that I wasn't sure.

Most hot ACs do play a fair amount of 80s music. After all, it is an adult format and it's attracting those who listened to that type of music while growing up in the 80s, like yours truly. Of couse, you don't have to play a lot of or no 80s music and still be hot AC.

Golden eagle boy, I looked at their playlist, and they do play a low number of currents for a Hot AC station. As for Hot AC being an adult format, here are national ratings for Hot AC + Modern AC: 12+: 4.3 18-34: 6.0 25-54: 5.6 35-64: 4.3 Out of what seems to me like the three major age demographics, Hot AC + Modern AC does best in the youngest one. wargod.arbitron.com/scripts/ndb/fmttrends2.aspI would have expected it to be an adult format also, but I looked at the national ratings to find out. I would expect WMVX to have an older average listener age than the Hot AC + Modern AC format.

It does best 25-44 but it still does better 18-24 than 45-49 or 50-54, and it does better 12-17 than 50-54. You mentioned both part of 18-34 (18-24 and 25-54) but didn't mention all the parts of 25-54 (didn't mention 45-49 and 50-54) so you did not provide a fair comparison of 18-34 and 25-54. Hot AC has its 18-34 rating more than double its 50-54 rating. Based on the numbers I would expect it to do better 18-44 (in between) than 18-34 (younger) or 25-54 (older). Adult Contemporary has a much younger audience than Hot AC + Modern AC using the numbers, so I would say it's misleading to simply say both formats target "adults" or "25-54." In ages 55-64, Hot AC + Modern AC only does a little better than Urban (1.9 to 1.6) despite Hot AC + Modern AC playing much less rap. I would say we both provided different parts of the picture.
