This should be exploding. It's being overshadowed a little by 'Bad Romance' and 'Russian Roulette'. Those two were anticipated eagerly, this song sorta just came outta nowhere.

That's impressive. I am hoping that she ends up with 3 top 15 hits on the Hot 100 this era. She has never managed that kind of consistency in the U.S. She usually ends up with 1 massive hit and a couple of underperforming follow-ups.

Should I be worried that Bad Romance and Russian Roulette are kicking this song's ass in total audience?

A few hits will also be better for her tour since people will instantly recognize the new songs on the tour.

I just listened to this for the first time, and all I can say is WTF? This is horrible, seriously one of the worst songs she's ever put out, imo. I can't imagine something this crappy being a hit while something as good as She Wolf missed the top 10. Unless it's a huge grower or something, but my initial reaction to this is yuck.

Should I be worried that Bad Romance and Russian Roulette are kicking this song's ass in total audience? No. Those two are coming from huge hits/hype. This one is coming from She Wolf that only spent 12 weeks on the chart and underperformed a little bit, so it's getting a good/OK start.

I'm still neutral in accepting the metamorphosis of Shakira from a Alanis Morisette rocker image to joining the Britney Spears bandwagon since the She Wolf album release. Maybe to some people, especially who witnessed her Latin career, is not yet ready to embrace her new image lately, as manifested in the charts.. I get what you say... but let's not get too much ahead of ourselves either. I mean, Shakira was never really a Latin Alanis, since her "Pies Descalzos". Come on, Shakira's second big hit was "Donde Estas Corazon", which was almost Latin bubble pop. Of course, she also had her independent rocker songs like "Pies Decalzos, Suenos Blancos", but it was more like balancing many styles in her album. Same for her followup album. An Alanis-like track "Inevitable" but also a poppish track like "No Creo". Her image has been sexed up since she decided to dye her hair, cove her body on mud and shake her ass like there's no tomorrow for her video of "Suerte". Everything afterwards on her US career have ben just additional stripes on the tiger.

I can't believe some people miss "Laundry Service" ShaSha!!! WOW... Just imagine how those of us who saw her emerge in 1996 feel! LS was already miles away from her international debut and sophomore albums, and not in a good way... Now, this??? Ugh... I would really like to know how Colombians feel towards this! The only good thing she currently does is supporting her "Pies Descalzos" foundation, but other than that she's shown to become dumber and stepped completely away from her roots. I agree that her best albums are her PD and DELL. However, Suerte was a really good track and one of my Top songs from Shakira ever. People change, though, and want to try different things in life when they grow up. Shakira has been in the business for more than 15 years, so I don't blame her to try different stuff. She has never been Mercedes Sosa either. She has been a Pop artist always, with some good songs, full with messages, but also with fun songs. A lot of fusion stuff, too. And she is not a political or social leader or Colombian ambassador either. SHe is simply an artist. So, as a Latin myself, despite the fact that there are some career moves I haven't adored from Shakira, I am happy she is trying to find new avenues for her music, try more stuff but also trying to keep her signature in her projects. Did It Again had her fusion signature. Even this song has a clear Indian influence in the way Shakira sings the bridge. I'm sure she will include some of her old-style material in her album. But to be honest, for her Fijacion Oral, some of her "old-style" also implied BORING, so I wouldn't like a full album with songs like that.

I keep playing this on repeat. Although the instrumental reminds me of Promiscuous and Give It To Me and I don't like the first seconds of the song (her whispers are and Lil' Wayne is just unnecessary to say the least). However, the rest of the song really got me :) I like the way Shakira sounds, including her autotuned background voice, and the Indian bridge. The song may sound a bit dated, but I still like it a lot. In terms of production, it may be the best single I have heard from her in a long time... yeah, probably since La Tortura, but may even go back to Whenever, Wherever

If she enjoys this music why didn't she put this type of music on the cd? Rather than rush recording it last second for ONE market (it isn't even on the "real" cd) with the hot trendy rapper of the moment after the first single under-performs so canning the chosen second single. I mean, I kind of like it, but come on. Some fans seem determined to make her about art and never doing anything except for art and what she loves-this was clearly recorded because her label wants an American hit and this is the quickest, easiest way they could get an American hit.

She didn't record this for herself though. It was done for Timabaland's album and is being released on her disc since it appears the label bought it from him. The thing is, she has to have liked the track to participate with Timbaland on it. I just think people are too quick to write Shakira off as a sell out when it could have been that she had no choice OR she just likes these type of songs. Also LPL, the people in this thread are denouncing She Wolf (the CD) as well. They are saying she just did it for a hit. Personally, I think She Wolf is one of her better albums.

LPL. Decisions about the CD are to be made before the CD is released, right? And why the US CD is the "fake" CD? Leona's US version was different than the international markets, and that didn't make it un-real. I don't think that at this stage Shakira will record anything that she doesn't entirely like. Even the Shewolf lyrics are present, hehe. Management decisions surely have been involved, but I think Shakira already has a say in the decisions of her career. It has been a switch from DIA to GIUTM, yes. But I think it's for good. I was never convinced by the potential of DIA. It was good for a performance, for the album, but was risky as 2nd single. SW did not perform as expected in the US, so let's try something different for the market. Sounds reasonable to me, and better planned change than last era's.

I just want this one to give her enough hype to get good album sales, and then they can release Did It Again. That one should do good coming from a decent sized hit.

ShaSha needs to turn her eyes back to her latin fans! What do you mean by that? This is her English album. In a few months will come her Spanish album. Her latin fans will get plenty of new songs in a few months. Besides, English songs are popular in Latin America also. I doubt they dislike Shakira's english songs.
