This is the second single from "Hurt No More". It goes for adds June 22. This is a great song. It should be another Top 10 at Urban for him, but I don't know about pop. This is pretty urban.

The song is being remixed for radio featuring rapper Lil Flip. They didn't even play him when Sony tried to put him on Beyonce's single. They went and played the album version. LOL

Is it just me or does all his music sound dated? "I Don't Wanna Know" and "Never Really Was" sound really 1999. Not that I mind. I think it's great.

I hope they do like 'Naughty Girl' and play the album version.

Im not really familiar with the original, but I did hear the beat when I skimmed the CD at the record store. The beat was hot, it stood out to me.
Lil' Flip only has like 6 bars, and right at the beginning of the song, so he's kind of pointless. P.Diddy just talks a bit at the beginning, but I don't know if he does on the album version as well.
I don't see the big difference between the remix and the original, but I'd rather hear the remix, it's less boring with someone else on it I suppose.
the beat is really hot though, I love it

Is this going to flop? It goes for adds next week and it's #184 at Urban and nowhere to be found at Rhythmic. :o

This'll cross right over! Great song! I really like the strings in this song. I know you didn't ask , but I thought you'd might like to know: the strings are sampled from Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach", which hit the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1986. ;) If you don't know that song, try to listen to it, just to check it out. ;)

Papa Don't Preach? Im familiar with the song, maybe not so much the strings, but I didn't hear any similarity between the two songs.

Mario took the string section that makes for the intro on Madonna's song. For his own intro, Mario cut the strings to the first two bars. The resto of the intro on Madonna's song appears in the middle and especially in the final sequence of "Never Really Was".

The sample is really obvious. Evidently not to everyone. I haven't heard "Papa Don't Preach" in a while, but I did not make the connection at all. I have to go and listen to Papa Don't Preach now. Im just kind of surprised, I would think I'd recognize it or at least think it was familiar, but it didn't at all.

Ok well I just downloaded Papa Don't Preach and listened to it, and yea, the first 20 seconds of the song, the strings are exactly the same as this Mario Winans beat, but after that the beat totally changes into something else. That's why I didn't recognize it at all, I guess.
I dont think I've ever heard the first 20 second instrumental of the song being played on the radio or video version of the song, or any other version of Papa Don't Preach I've heard.

The video premiered as the New Joint on BET's 106 & Park today live from the red carpet at the 4th annual BET Awards in LA :)
It's a pretty cool video, I didn't watch the full thing but caught parts of it. I like the incorporation of the orchestra in the video.
I still don't see the point of Lil' Flip being on this "remix". He has like 6 lines at the very beginning of the song, you forget he was even on it by the song's end.
