It looks like Shania Twain fell out of the Top Ten this week but didn't go recurrent (because didn't she fall off the 6/11 R&R chart?). The same thing happened to "Drift Away" by Uncle Kracker a few weeks back. But we all know that "Forever And For Always" ain't gonna be back next week and that's OK by me, since I'm sick of that song.
They added a new jingle to intro the Spotlight feature. And, according to an e-mail friend of mine, there's also a new opening theme. I wasn't really paying attention, since I was, yes, playing a video game (Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time - trying to beat those gigantic flying worms in the desert chamber of the Stone Temple - yikes!).
The AT10 Spotlight this week reminded me of a countdown Casey Kasem did back on Thanksgiving weekend in 1990, the Top 40 Million Sellers of the 1980s. This week, he focused on the 1990s. I have a feeling that the spotlight next week will be one of two things: Summer songs (since it'll be the first day of summer) or songs having to do with Fathers (we all know that Butterfly Kisses will be one!) I just hope that, if it does focus on Fathers Day, they don't play depressing songs like "The Living Years" by Mike + The Mechanics or "The Last Song" by Elton John. Maybe, since there'll probably be several LDDs for Father's Day, they won't need to do that for the Spotlight.
Josh Groban sure took a dive this week, just like Shania Twain did last week. But he probably won't follow suit, because I don't think Josh has a new song out while Shania does and I'm sure that song was what stole thunder from "Forever And For Always". I haven't heard Shania's latest "It Only Hurts When I'm Breathing" yet. Is it any good?
It was great to hear Lionel Richie's new song!
