I wouldn't even count on "Breathe" being on a Nickelback GH set. I could see the inclusion of "Leader of Men" going either way; it's not like I'm even a particularly big fan of the band, but I'd be disappointed in them/the label if "Leader of Men" was left off. I mean, it's not like "How You Remind Me" came out of nowhere.

I mean, it's not like "How You Remind Me" came out of nowhere. To the majority of their current fans, it did. I would think any fan worth their salt, current or not, would know about Nickelback's pre-Silver Side Up career just from exploration of their catalog. Who you're really referring to are the passing fans who only know the band from their pop singles. And I suppose that's who a Greatest Hits package would be marketed at, but I would still expect some attention drawn to their material across the board. To counter Hibsicus' point, I can't really think of too many Greatest Hits packages off the top of my head that didn't reference the past in some way, either through rerecordings or one-off singles or whatever. Even Incubus included an acoustic version of "A Certain Shade Of Green" as a nod to SCIENCE, even if they didn't include any songs from it on the hits part proper.

There was a Music Video Collection DVD that had all Nickelback's videos and it was released last year I think and it has the videos off ATRR's,TLR,SSU and it had "Leader Of Men" aswell on it. Not sure if would suggest to the approach that would be taken to a GH cd but it's a positive I think.

Yeah, sounds more like a bootleg that hasn't gotten the smack down yet than an official release if only 500 copies were made.

"Burn To the Ground" was quite massive, outside of the charts more so. Its been in Transformers 2 soundtrack, NHL 2010 game soundtrack and now is the new theme of WWE RAW.

The more I listen to this the more I see this as a potential CHR hit That's what I've been saying since "Dark Horse" was first released. "Shakin' Hands" basically trots the same path as "Rockstar" where, even though the lyrics are edgy, it's that kind of edginess that many of us identify with all too well from what we see in the media all the time, and musically also has some grit but feels simple and streamlined. I happen to think the pre-chorus couplet "She ain't no Cinderella when she's gettin' undressed, cuz she rocks it like the Naughty Wicked Witch of the West!" is the single catchiest couplet on the entire album and one that's unlikely not to stick in people's minds as they listen to the song. To say it's "cringe-worthy" would be a gross understatement, but it is nonetheless a very effective hook and among their most potent hooks to date. Given their CHR/Pop stature has dissipated a bit this album era, I'm not exactly sure now this will make as big an impact. But there's no question this is their most Top 40-friendly cut among their topically-sex centered songs on the album, at least in my view. Sincerely, Lisping Hibiscus

Sincerely, Lisping Hibiscus Eh, I still think TA is the better choice for the "edgy" CHR single, but I wouldn't be opposed to this getting a shot either. Ballads obviously aren't working for them there this era.

I agree with u aTunes, if both Shakin' Hands and This Afternoon have a shot on CHR it would be great...but it's really sad that songs like Never Gonna Be Alone and I'd Come for You (future US Single i guess) won't peak high enough on the CHR chart

Agreed...however if they are going to release "This afternoon", they should do it in the summer. It has a much better summer feel to it and would be a back yard party anthem!

This is looking good for the top 5 on Active at the moment. This sounds an awful lot like a remake of "Pour Some Sugar on Me". Is one of the better rocking cuts on the "Dark Horse" album nonetheless.

In spite of the band's sharp decline in popularity on CHR/Pop, and possibly even Hot AC given the rapid descent of "If Today Was Your Last Day" on the latter format (it was hemorrhaging spins between -450 and -550 each week after peaking at #2)..........Nickelback are looking as strong as ever on Active Rock this era. The fact their last two Rock-only releases went Top Three and actually re-gained their bullets before going recurrent is a very encouraging sign their recent ubiquity has alienated few of their core listeners. Sincerely, Lisping Hibiscus

I'm at the point to say this is the best rock-only single they've put out since "Figured You Out." Though I think this is gonna cross-over, so away with that idea

I would of thought "Burn It to the Ground" would have crossed over much better than this, as it much catchier.

I would of thought "Burn It to the Ground" would have crossed over much better than this, as it much catchier. I strongly disagree. "Burn It To The Ground" sounds too gritty and distortion-heavy to make a notable crossover impact, while "Shakin' Hands" feels streamlined and clean in its production sound much like "Rockstar" was with riffs that sound no more crunching than their edgier Top 40 hits. Sincerely, Lisping Hibiscus
