^ Britney's self-titled album sold 12 million as well. I often confuse her self-titled for ITZ, altogether erasing it from my memory, but yes it definitely did.

I don't find it that impressive since its two albums... Most artists don't even sell 10 million with two proper studio releases nowadays. Even the biggest albums are coming short of 5 million. Seems fairly impressive to me to do it with one re-release and not even two proper studio releases and full eras. I guess what is impressive to one is not impressive to others though. I know some people hate re-releases though and would discredit TEOM with Mariah, Rihanna's last one, Taylor's Fearless, Beyonce, and other albums that have seen a re-release though. I say good for Gaga-she worked insanely, insanely hard to get a deal, tour, get noticed, etc. She definitely deserves it. Exactly. I don't consider TFM a 'separate release'. It's a re-release of The Fame in my book

Plus, are the worldwide certifications the same for US? I know Diamond in the US is 10 million but isn't it 20 million worldwide?

This non re-release/re-release thing does my head in. I would have rather she made this a full new album. She could have left it as an eight track EP but not attached it to The Fame.
Now no other album of hers will come close in sales, when infact, TFM played a big part in getting those sales to 10Mill.

I don't understand why people seem so angry or annoyed that she has sold a lot. I don't really ever remember being pissed off that someone did well in an era. Maybe pissed off that artists didn't do as well as they deserved, but it is just strange to me.

I think the importance of TFM in her reaching those sort of sales is overestimated - it hasn't been out that long, and I'm sure she reached around 8M with The Fame prior to it's release (or re-release, whichever) which is nothing to sniff at. Albums just don't sell as well as that on a regular basis anymore. Plus, Telephone's barely peaking in the US and hasn't been fully released w/w yet, so I'm sure she can squeeze a few more million out depending on what singles she releases. It's something to commend, not find fault in.

She did ship 8 million plus before the re-release so I also don't understand why people are making it seem like without the Fame re-release it would have been much, much less successful as a cd. The re-release, of course, helped as it has helped a lot of other eras too (Beyonce, Mariah, Taylor Swift). Overall, I think this can ship 12 million plus which is a GOOD thing to me-I want artists to be able to sell a lot nowadays and not stall out at 5 million max worldwide. The more artists we have selling the better-I am rooting for everyone now LOL. Like, go KEsha go, get 10 million worldwide, go Lady Antebellum, smash smash smash, hopefully Britney, Christina, and Nelly will SMASH when they release. I guess it is just a different perspective.

Can't even think of who else might be able to do that again (with current albums out)... possibly Taylor Swift? She should be somewhat close. possibly Susan Boyle? I would think those two are the only current releases that could (will?) eventually do it as well.
And there is no worldwide certifications, are there? So saying it's "diamond" isn't truly accurate. But I guess it helps people put an impressive label with it.

I don't think Taylor will do it, she's far to much of a local act - Fearless hasn't even sold 2,000,000 outside of the US.
I think this album is Susan's only chance, but she could do it (on about 7 million now).

i think it will be ended up selling 15 millions:) I don't think so since she will probably only have one more single because she is supposed to have her 3rd cd out 4th quarter.

So when the next album comes out and sells say 3-5Mill because lets face it, by 2011, an album with these sales would probably be MASSIVE, would that make it a flop? And anything else she puts out from here on out?
I hope not.

Does anyone have a list of her single and album sales for the UK? Or Europe as a whole?

And anything else she puts out from here on out? I hope not. I hope not either! Honestly, a hit album is selling about 3-5 million nowadays and if Gaga can maintain that with her next few cd releases I would be THRILLED. I would never expect anyone to maintain super huge monster sales every single cd release ever. No one can maintain stratospheric sales forever. The goal is to maintain good/solid sales.

I have these for the UK: The Fame - 1,647,314 (exact) & then these estimates from BuzzJack (UK Chart Forum): Just Dance - 647,200 (2009 year end) Poker Face - 917,300 (last week) Paparazzi - 447,720 (2009 year end) Bad Romance - 647,200 (last week) I think LoveGame got to about 120k and we should get a total for Telephone sometime soon.

I just realized how much I love Speechless. From the lyrics, to the Queen inspired vocals, there is something truly epic in the song. It would be perfect had it not started so in your face with GaGa whining in the first few seconds in a way that makes me squirm and had they used a proper instrumental opening to the song. That and the fact that it follows Monster, a very dance oriented song throws me off a little.

Does iTunes have the non-censored version of TFM?
