I don't even know if Def Jam sent "New Day" to Urban though. They seemed very focused on selling Patti's album to her older, established fan base and not wasting money on trying to cater to a younger audience. It depends on where Blue Note wants to focus with Anita. true, i don't think patti was pushed outside of UAC

Smooth jazz play doesn't count towards the Hot 100 does it?
...and this song has 1 spin at rhythmic! :o YET NONE at mainstream urban.

Someone post high quality version when they get it. This is baby making music! I've listened to it like 10 times since this morning. The chorus kind of sounds like "Love, Need and Want You" by Patti.

I can't wait for the high quality version. I sat here for two hours not getting up once just trying to catch it on that Chicago station so I could hear it and record it for you guys. It was worth it!

The chorus kind of sounds like "Love, Need and Want You" by Patti. yeah it does remind me of that, as well as toni's "hit the freeway" (random!)... i've experienced that sort of déjà vu before with songs, when it feels like it's already a hit and a standard... usually that song goes on to BECOME a hit.

"You're My Everything" now has a bullet of +270. :o Obviously still the #1 greatest gainer.
It already has 389 spins at radio this week and 8 million audience.

yeah, 8.5 million audience in less than a week. This is frustrating though, b/c it can be the biggest UAC hit in a long time and still not even make the Hot 100 if things don't happen elsewhere.

Sometimes songs have huge starts like this and end up almost being considered flops--- NOT this song, I feel safe to say that. I'm sure it's headed for a lengthy #1 stay at UAC. I'm anxious for it to pick up at Urban... I think it could do it.

I'm sorry. I think this is the best song I've heard in a long time but I can not see urban playing this between Juvenile and Terror Squad. Urban has changed a lot in ten years.

But they do still get on songs like "If I Ain't Got You", too. So there's hope, for at least enough audience to help it make Hot 100.

As much as I like Alicia, her music is heavily payolad at urban radio. Someone posted a whole article on payola and who was recieving it.

That DEFINITELY wasn't my point. I think your point was Urban embraces slow songs like "if i ait got u" but it has alot to do with who is singing those slow songs and Anita Baker is not an Alicia Keyes.

No, she's not an Alicia Keyes nor an Alicia Keys, but what I said is that they don't refuse flat-out to play things that don't have a rapper in them.

Right but as some1 else mentioned they wont be playin any Anita Baker between juvinile and Terror Squad. Most young people dont even know who Anita Baker is...or care to know who she is.
