Wow I just caught up w/ the whole thread. First of all, sorry Will I was way late with my response to that it seems. Secondly, ![](http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a144/pulseimages/newpulsesmilies/dqi161.gif) at the last 3 pages of this thread. Is it time for part 12 yet? Nope. Page 100. I don't get why people are disappointed. Mariah just released a brand new album 4 months ago. She's touring, sounding good and releasing a "features" album that most of you will just steal for free off the internet anyway. Spoiled brats I tell ya. If directed at me, which I hope it wasn't, I will be purchasing the album no matter what. I will actually be purchasing both the AA and the Jump Smokers version if released separately. Secondly, I'm disappointed that her and her team are hyping it up when, in actuality, it's nothing new at all on Mariah's behalf. I'm not a spoiled brat at all. If not directed at me, ignore that.

Mariah Carey is:
- On tour & sounding incredible. - Releasing an updated version of Memoirs for the fans, featuring friends of hers. - Winning acclaim for her work, both music and film alike, including awards.
What's the problem then??? I don't get it ...
Some fans will find anything to whine about. Is that your only way of being productive?? How about just being grateful that you get any music from her, and taking it as it comes? Surely, your happiness in life isn't dependent on Mariah Carey and her every move, right? If it is, then you're in serious trouble ...
And to the people arguing Mariah/Madonna stats, two things:
1) They are BOTH extremely successful. Everyone knows that, so who cares which of them sold a few more copies in whichever territory? Going from the past few pages, obviously many people do care, which is pretty childish and nasty.
and
2) Don't go around making claims that Mariah Carey is personally contacting CNN, or whichever publication or show, requesting to be introduced as "The Most Successful Artist Of All Time", or whatever it is. You don't know that for a fact ... So why lie?
Anyone who has an issue with someone else's success is an extremely insecure person. Extremely.

Just heard the new versions of Up Out My Face and Angels Cry. I quite like them both, though I love the original Angels Cry as is. I personally would have preferred Usher on a song this heartfelt, he's a better and more mature vocalist I think. But Neyo still did his thing.
I don't think she needs to redo vocals that are excellent as they are. To people who aren't familiar with Memoirs, these remixes are their first listens. Of course, new vocals are always a treat, but no big deal. People act like this is no work for Mariah, just because there aren't much in the way of new vocals. I guess all the guests artists must have coordinated, overseen and signed off on the final production values of each song themselves, huh? Come on ... Not true.
The truth is, Mariah Carey fans are just spoilt. And have been for years!

Not directed at you, just a general comment. But I will add. We still do not know all that this new album will include. What if some great songs get another chance at life due to this re-release. Plus, what if there are *several* new or unreleased tracks included? I still think it's too early to express anger towards Mariah, who is clearly trying to please the fans. Shame on her for not being able to please 100% of her fanbase all the time. Once again, not directed at you, but at everyone.

Mariah said that there were going to be new tracks. I'm quite looking forward to them, even if 'Sky Diving' is going to be one of the "unreleased" songs on the record.

Haha. No need to defend yourself, Mariah.
Not saying that you shouldn't just control yourself, but in her defense: at award shows, as soon as you arrive, you get escorted to a room where you mix and mingle with all the other attendees. The alcohol is free, flowing and almost in excess. This is even before you line up for, and are dropped off at, the red carpet. Then when you're inside the auditorium, alcohol is even served.
Until I went to award shows, I didn't understand why certain people always seemed weird or "out of it". Once I did, I totally understood why. Haha. Alot of people are getting drunk even before the show starts. I'm not talking about attending as a member of the general public either, but as talent/guests and their guests.
I still think the whole thing is hilarious. No, I don't condone being drunk onstage. But it's not nearly as big a deal as people and media have blown it up to be. Haha ...

Now your claiming to have attended an awards show? Will the lies never end? Do you even have a passport? SMH.
Wow, the UOMF remix is the shit. Nicki did good. She compliments Mariah's aggressive persona well.

$tephen: The thing is you actually don't even know if I'm lying hey. I could be, but I could actually be telling the truth too ... You actually don't know.
I guess anyone who works in the entertainment industry must all be fictional characters and not real people. Haha. Very amusing ...

Will, nobody said that in the context of it being a "success story", as you put it. Someone said something about not crossing 500k worldwide, and someone else pointed out that it had, in fact, done so. I was referencing the individual (perhaps more than one - can't really remember) who claimed the album wasn't a "flop" speaking only of the commercial success of this era (as the individual was throwing around figures). Now, I'm not a fan of the word flop at all (as I believe it is completely overused and typically used by less than productive Pulse members), but if any mainstream artist's album would fit the unofficial definition, it would be Memoirs. The commercial success of an album and its quality do not always go hand-in-hand. I have stated several times the album's quality is high (as you yourself recalled) so I don't even understand why my personal opinion on the album's quality would be up for questioning at this point. Again, I was only referencing the performance aspect of this era. Well, while I think Memoirs contains some of Mariah's best work, I don't think it's so artistic/different from her previous work that it was incapable of being commercially successful. I think its poor performance was clearly due to the lack of general interest from the public, low momentum (due to the amount of time between Obsessed peaking and the album being released), and poor single choices.

I said that some guy who sits behind his computer and types away at Pulse while claiming to be a background singer/model/whatever is lying. I very much believe Mariah is a superstar, I'm just note sure of martsss H@nd c@dence is. I guess anyone who calls you out lives in a fictional world. Haha. Very amusing ...

Newsflash everyone: No one in the entertainment has a Twitter, Facebook, MySpace or an account on any message boards, nor do they visit Perez Hilton, Concrete Loop, or any other entertainment blogs.
Absolutely unlikely and quite impossible!
When work is over, instead of going home and doing normal things, those "special people" catch a flight to another universe, void of the internet, TV or any "earthly" devices consumed by human beings. Until they have to go back to earth for work, they just lie on their backs on beds of gold. They don't have to shower or use the bathroom either.
According to $tephen's theory, that is. Just wanted to let you all know.
Now back on topic ...

Extremely. I am not sure if you were talking about me here but what you seem not to know is that when an artist appears on a show, the host will ask the artist's team how the she/he would like to be introduced. Like it or not that's how it works. Why on earth would mariah's success would make me an insecure person? That's absurd. She's been amazingly successful and good for her, but she's just not the most successful one.

I have to wonder why the only time we see you in this thread is when you come in here to deny this or that about Mariah or some accomplishment she's made, or downplay it. Why are you so pressed? It just seems very trollish and unnecessary to me. I understand this isn't a fan board, and maybe it's just my mindset, but, I don't know why one would really click into this thread if they don't like Mariah or are not interested. I don't click into the threads of artists I dislike just to start shit. I guess some people just get a little charge out of the attention they get from doing that....

There was a clip on CNN headline news this morning about Mariah, and her "drunken" acceptance speech... but it was more like "we all have those days, even celebrities" type of tone as opposed to "OMG! What is she doing!" And they loved the word "splashes."
