WLTW just added this. With 8 spins, it already has 1.6 in AC audience impressions. Only 1 other AC station is playing this so far, but I think the add in NYC may lead to a few more stations jumnping on the bandwagon. IMO, this song fits in perfectly at AC... what do you guys think?

I think this is a good one for AC. "Fallin'" did get some AC airplay. If "You Don't Know My Name" would've done better on pop, it probably could've translated into a breakout record for her at AC.

I think this is her most AC friendly song to date.

I think this is her most AC friendly song to date. I agree, and I'm surprised that it hasn't been promoted there.

I agree, and I'm surprised that it hasn't been promoted there. Why bother? It seems in the last couple of years, AC PDs couldn't care less about newer music to fill their playlists. They just keep playing the safe favorites over and over again (e.g., I Hope You Dance, Hero, Superman).

Wow, Mega248's message was posted at 2:48 (well, at least that's what the clock said...)
Anyway, yeah, there are a lot of songs that would fit A/C radio like a glove, but they have this idea that everyone wants to hear the same five songs over and over again. I can see it now: AT10 will soon become AT5. Or better yet, they'll probably start only counting down the top two. "TWO??!!" I can hear Casey Kasem shouting in disbelief...

It's 11:04 PM EST right now. Lets see how accurate the clock here is.

Hmm, it says 10:12 PM for me. I guess I should go play around with my time settings.
Edit: I managed to get it within 1 minute of the actual time, which I can live with.

I agree with both JCMF3 and Mega. AC radio became too conservative and self-aware. I look at the AC charts and, really, I shake my head in disbelief, thinking how can a radio format be so static. I mean, come on: "Calling All Angels", "The First Cut Is The Deepest", "White Flag" and "You Raise Me Up" seem to be on the Currents Chart for what seems like centuries!!! And take a big look at this week's Recurrents! Looks like we're stuck in a 2002-early 2003 time quake!!! And another thing: why won't AC radio bet some more on current Urban artists with AC friendly songs? Songs with undoubted AC appeal like K-Ci & JoJo's "All My Life", "Tell Me It's Real" and "Crazy", TLC's "Unpretty", Aaliyah's "Miss You", R Kelly's "The World's Greatest", Jagged Edge's "Promise" and "Let's Get Married" (the slow version, of course, not the remix), Beyoncé's "Me, Myself And I" or Ashanti's "Rain On Me" and "Foolish" (hey, why not?) went by and didn't chart! Why the hell?! I know what you're going to tell me: "there's Urban AC for that", right? But we're talking about "general" AC here. And the fact is that AC radio is becoming too one-dimensional, playing mostly Celine Dion and all her clones. I'm curious about what they're going to do about Usher's "Burn". Very AC friendly, just like "If I Ain't Got You".

I don't think any of the others did though. I don't think "Burn" is that AC-friendly. "Can U Help Me" is the Usher song that should've been huge on AC.

"Burn" isn't AC friendly at all. I don't think Ashanti's singles or "Unpretty" are very AC friendly either.
Also, AC is as much about the image as it is about the music. If the artist is a primarily hip-hop artist, and they toss a ballad out to release, that doesn't mean it's going to cross over to Adult Contemporary. The image itself could be enough of a turn off.

I've heard Ki-Ci and JoJo's "All My Life" on several AC stations before.
AC has been stale for a while now. Chart movement is down to nil. Even staple AC artists (Phil Collins and Celine Dion included) rarely get much airplay with their third singles (sometimes, even the second single is ignored in favour of overplaying the first). Artists like Edwin McCain and Gloria Estefan, who did have AC success at one point, are ignored.
For recurrents and gold, only a few of each artist's hits are chosen and played day after day after night ad nauseum.
Most pop crossovers on AC as of late have been pop-rock stuff like Train, which is fine except AC just latches to one song and plays it to death!

This goes for adds on August 9. I'm glad it's getting an official push. I don't think it guarentees it success, but I can see it breaking the Top 20 at least. It SHOULD go Top 5 though.

It took me a while to get into this one, but I really like it now. I can see how it can have a little difficulty taking off among some AC listeners. I didn't initially see it as an AC fit, but I've changed my mind.
I don't understand why this song isn't on Hot AC already, though, since they should be able to take in a greater diversity of songs. It would give variety to their playlists.

Dick Clark played as this week's preview on the US Music Survey. Hopefully that'll boost into the Top 20! It's been one of the greatest gainers for a couple weeks now and is now on 55 AC stations.

Up to #19, with a chance of getting as high as #17 by the end of the week. A steep climb after that though.
This song has already done better than I could've hoped for here, but now I'm hoping it continues all the way into the Top 10!

Now that this song is doing well on AC and looks like it may stabilize, this just means more time on the Hot 100. This song has been around forever and rightfully so!
