Kworb-are you serious? Really? Every store I went to this week was completely sold out of FYE. You couldn't buy it anywhere. Yeah, I was at Wal-Mart over the weekend and they only had one copy. :| I wonder how many units RCA shipped initially? It can't have been that many since stock is reportedly so low in stores now. Anyway, the 62k figure is from mtv.com and they got their info from Billboard! The article is here.

I think RCA underestimated how much Adam would sell.

He's right on target to meet or even surpass the 450k that RCA was expecting him to sell by the end of the year.

I think gold may take some time. Albums sales are apparently plummeting this week and usually stays low all of january. I have seen people talking about 70% drops. I think RCA may be on target with their 450K prediction for next week. I am hoping for gold 2nd week in january.

The good thing that Adam has right now though is that WWFM is just beginning, and I think it's going to help the album sales in the next couple of months at least too. :)

I'm just happy he's in line with what the label predicted, which cracks the whole negative story of them expecting him to be a huge multi-platinum seller out of the gate that the glumberts keep pushing to slam him.

We don't know what RCA's initial expectations were. This "450k before the end of the year" was something their representative posted on AO a while back. So it was after they had already lowered their expectations.

So it was after they had already lowered their expectations. The RCAMod posted that after the sales of the first week were published and who said they lowered their expectations then? Sorry, but I don't believe that.

kworb-according to Billboard, Adam's debut week numbers were higher than what RCA was predicting for him. They didn't "lower" their expectations. Adam exceeded them right out of the gate. The fact that there's severe stock problems with FYE shows that their initial sales predictions were too low both on RCA's end AND the retailer's end. If anything, they should have raised their expectations.
FWIW, I live in one of the largest cities in the US, and I went to Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, and Barnes & Noble last week. Barnes & Noble was the only retailer that had any FYE CD's left. They had 2 copies left. That was it.
I honestly don't know how people managed to even FIND 62,000 copies of FYE. There's been reports all over the country of it being sold out everywhere.

The CD seems to be quite popular! They really need to ship a whole shit load more! Also, Z100 had this at 9 on their playlist yesterday, now its 7 ! It should be Top 5 by thend of the week, maybe even tomorrow!

I updated all the Wikipedia pages today, including the one I made for WWFM. Everyone should go add their input to them!
As far as sales go, all the Idols had soaring sales this last week. Especially Jordin Sparks... +448% from last week. Carrie sold 124k units of Casonova. It looks like everyone is spending their gift card money.
----- Carrie Underwood, Cowboy Casanova (124,000, +278 percent, 833,000) Kris Allen, Live Like We're Dying (109,000, +171 percent, 399,000) Kelly Clarkson, Already Gone (87,000, +125 percent, 1.005 million) Daughtry, Life After You (51,000, +111 percent, 156,000) Jordin Sparks, Battlefield [Main Version] (51,000, +448 percent, 1.245 million) Adam Lambert, Whataya Want From Me (46,000, +127 percent, 97,000) Adam Lambert, For Your Entertainment (30,000, +95 percent, +175,000) Daughtry, No Surprise (23,000, +236 percent, 955,000) -----
The author on Idol Chatter brought up a great point. Take One sold 8k copies this last week. Personally, i think the CD is awful... ive seen him do much better soulful ballads -- not some studio recording that wasnt supposed to be published! RCA would probably benefit greatly from releasing some B-sides that is a more mellow side of his music.

I was just at Best Buy, and I couldn't find where his album was? It's usually in the Current Music section, but I guess they were sold out. I've had quite a difficult time finding the album too. On release day it was nowhere to be seen at my local Best Buy under the new releases sections. Rihanna and Susan Boyle were displayed prominently. Adam's were stocked in the Rock/Pop section under "L"...which isn't wrong just not proper business practice. Since that day I've been to several Targets and Best Buys and have seen some stores out of stock completely and others had less than 5 copies. I think I've actually been to only one Best Buy in which Adam was displayed under "New Releases" or "Best Sellers". In an even stranger situation, last week I saw his "Take One" album under the "Best Sellers" section in Best Buy on sale for $9.99 yet FYE was nowhere to be found. Quite odd...and truth be told I honestly believe it's because the album cover is so flamboyant. The FYE single cover would have done him better as the album cover lol.

Nah, I just think that stores didn't order enough and RCA didn't ship enough.
I DO see Rihanna and Shakira absolutely stocked to the rafters no matter where I go. Clearly, their record labels thought they'd sell a heck of a lot more than they did.

When does the freeze normally end? Spins are dropping so low! Well after New Years radio stations start to return to a more normal playlist, but things don't go back to normal completely until like mid-January.
