The connection to itunes is really weird. Why is a song like "Heaven Can Wait" that is really low on the itunes (277) getting so many spins?

The connection to itunes is really weird. Why is a song like "Heaven Can Wait" that is really low on the itunes (277) getting so many spins? It's only on really small stations. But yeah that song has had crazy longevity even though it's hardly selling anything. KFRH in Las Vegas and KRCK in Palm Springs have had that one in power rotation for months, and still going.

But they're all sung by women. Not by men. Girl on girl feigned lesbianism is "hot" to heterosexual males and will sell. A man who loves other men and sings using male pronouns? Them's some uncharted waters. At least on mainstream pop radio. People keep saying "Fever" would do well as a single, but I personally hope RCA is not that stupid. It'd be a great song for any other artist besides Adam to release, but the fact that he's gay and uses male pronouns in that song make it a horrid single choice, IMO, which is sad. Ah, that's a good point. Perhaps if some endearing male artist were to break some ground by making a hit song with bisexual themes that would be a step in the right direction? Just thinking out loud. Personally I like it best when they make a song more ambiguous though so it could be taken to be about a male or a female though. It's kind of a more tactical approach.. I still think all out lesbianism would still cause controversy in a song, no matter if it's some straight guys' thing or not. Pop culture seems to be more flexible about these things than the general public is... I think he should go for it and do a single which has him referring to guys in it, it would be a great move for him if the song is very good quality too. Ugh, it's hard to say whether he'd gain from the potential backlash, or if it'd kill his career quick... either way he would get attention from it. lol This situation makes me a little sad about how judgmental some people are though.

Adam sounds so much like the CD when he sings IIHY, it's insane. Oprah was singing along, which was so cute! Can't wait to see WWFM. He looks disarmingly like Elvis in that performance!

Just reread the previous few pages, and had to get this off my system: this is a homophobic culture, and anyone who believes that popular culture is miraculously free from the homophobia widespread in the general culture is living in a dream world. No one can tell how Adam's sexuality will affect his career, but saying that the sexuality will not affect the career is as bizarre as saying an actor's race would not have affected their career in American cinema back in the 70s or the 80s. Btw, some people did say that back in the 70s and the 80s. They were really, really wrong.

That's funny because the 70s were actually the height of Black exploitation films. They were tons of movies with almost 100% black casts because they were so profitable. When they stopped making $, Hollywood stopped making them. There were more films with black leading men in the 70s than any decade in U.S. history.
If this doesn't become a hit, RCA by that logic shouldn't bother putting out another single and drop him from the label. Because obviously even a good song can't overcome homophobia. That's kind of a defeatist attitude.

Blacks have it equal in the film business? What? Only 4 Black Actors/Actresses have EVER won a Best Acting Oscar in the Oscar's 82 years of being around.
ETA-I'm glad to see the Oprah bump already happening!

This might boost WWFM sales slightly.. Ke$ha has an iTunes Playlist this week that is on the music page and Track no. 9 says: "Whataya Want From Me (Track 9): My new boyfriend, Adam Lambert! I'm not trying to start any rumors; I just love him. We met a few days ago, and both of us had so much glitter on our faces that planets almost collided. I just think he is fantastic, and I do have a crush!"

Somebody just pointed out that the 70s was the wrong decade to point out the number of African-American actors in film. BTW the stats posted are whack. There are 5 African-American winners in the Best Acting Categories (Halle Barry, Sidney Poitier, Denzel Washington, Jamie Foxx and Forrest Whitaker) an additional 7 in the Supporting Category (Hattie McDaniel, Whoopie Goldberg, Jennifer Hudson, Louis Gosset Jr, Denzel Washington, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Morgan Freeman) and two Honorary awards for acting (James Baskett and Sidney Poitier). The stats are grim enough without having the wrong ones make it look even worse (plus, I like to give credit where credit is due) WWFM should see a nice boost today with the double boost of Oprah and another episode of AI (which is also in Chicago tonight). Should see some adds too.

Does Adam really stand to benefit from an episode of American Idol in which he is not performing or featured on? Another Top 40 add just came in...Canton, Ohio. How many stations are left to add him on the panel?

^^ As of now, 74 of 142 monitored Top 40 stations have added him. So a little more than half. Cumulus skipped over him again this week :/

What the heck happened to HAC adds in general? They just stopped coming in yesterday at 48% and haven't resumed since.

I know some have said that Cumulus wait a while before adding a new song but is this really true? I think they added (the top40 stations) LLWD on its add date?

No, I don't think that's true. Actually I believe it's the other way around, Cumulus usually doesn't take too long to add songs.

There are a whole bunch of songs in the top 40 that they haven't added. It's no big deal. The only thing that's lame is that they share adds at all.

Kworb, what stations did you mean by the 7-spin thing? Stations among the 68 that will autoadd today? Yeah these three: KMXV-FM Pub 18 Top 40 Kansas City RCA/RMG Wilks Broadcasting LLC 32 816-753-4000 WAEB-FM Pub 12 Top 40 Allentown RCA/RMG Clear Channel Communications 69 610-434-1742 WDJX-FM Pub 7 Top 40 Louisville RCA/RMG MainLine Broadcasting 53 502-625-1220 But I see WAEB already reported and didn't add WWMF, so that's odd.

I have also heard that WWFM is a perfect fit musically to what the Cumulus stations are playing... but that might be wrong. Thanks for the info on those stations kworb.

Oh, and I was talking about lead categories in the Oscars-not supporting ones. 4 Blacks have won 5 Oscars in a leading acting category. I just posted the 5 names of the winners. Unless Halle and Forrest are the same person, it's 5 winners and 5 Oscars. I guess the Oprah effect is being blunted by new music Tuesday for a bit (plus it hasn't aired in all time zones/markets). Getting exposure is the important thing anyway. They might not buy today, but they may buy the next time they hear it.

It's a mix of everything.
