Makes sense since this is like the only REALLY good song on the album.

its a pretty good song but it will flop. it wont do as well as "i used to love u." He has more single worthy songs on the album.

Has anyone ever wondered how Kanye's Midas Touch often fails for talented R&B stars(Janet, Brandy, John Legend), but works well with rappers(Twista, etc.)? I mean the man is so talented that I find it odd that only Alicia's You Don't Know My Name was the big recent R&B hit his name attached to it? And that's probably because the public was eagarly awaiting her first single more so than Janet's or Brandy's. In my opinion, Kanye has a more soul sound that complements the softer R&B genre than rap.
As for Legend, I like Ordinary People, but I love the faster bootlegg remix version of Do What I Gotta Do, with Kanye rapping! If you haven't heard it, you should--witht he right promotion, this may become the hit Legend has been looking for. The remix, like the original, samples Aretha Franklin's Until You Come Back To Me, for those of you who didn't know.

In my opinion, Kanye has a more soul sound that complements the softer R&B genre than rap. That's an interesting point, I never thought about that. But he did produce Alicia's "You Don't Know My Name", so he has had at least ONE hit for an R&B artist. But yea, it seems like many more instances of rappers getting a hit due to working with Kanye than R&B singers who work with him. I think in general, radio and people are tired of Kanye. All the rap stuff he did came out when he was new, fresh and hot, and now all these R&B collabos are coming out when he's been out for over a year and played out.

This is one of my favorite songs off his album! "Ordinary People" is a beautiful ballad and a sure hit! Can't wait for the video...:) I couldn't agree with you more on this. At least this song only has two instruments: John's voice and the piano. Perfect urban AC song right there unless a remix is in the works (and I HATE remixes that screams bloody murder to a good song). It does put in mind of him doing MTV Unplugged with it. Instant love.

He's flopped with many rap songs he's produced too though, like Dilated People's "This Way," Slum Village's "Selfish," etc. As far as "Ordinary People," it has to grow on me still. However, even though I'm not really into it at this point I'm glad to see it's off to a good start because real R&B NEEDS to make a comeback at Urban radio.

i jus heard this yesterday, and i thought i wouldnt like it as much as "used to love u". boy was i wrong. this is a classic. i totally love john's lyrics, not cliched in any way, and his voice sounds really great. and the piano is superb, is that a tinge of stevie wonder's ''my cherie amor" in there though? ive listened to both back to back and it sounds really similar. great song, needs to rebound on the hot100 and go for pop adds soon.

This song is AMAZING. Sounds classic without it even being a huge hit yet. I'm not really into slow R&B stuff, not even acoustic, but I bet many can relate to the lyrics, and just basically chill out to this song. It might even do well at Pop if it gets an add date and is marketed properly.

I do agree about kanye's rnb productions but "talk about our love" "selfish" "i changed my mind" and 'this way" were hits in my area...so i guess u can call them "hood hits" ....but yea i love john legend's ENTIRE album i would support any single he puts out my favorite is "live it up".

oohhh....
after a song gets too much airplay, that song gets tired and played out...
but I still have respect for an artist like that! This shows they're doing a good job!

When I watch the vid, I like the song alot, and get n2 the vid... But once I hear the song by itself, its unbearable. I dont know what it is. But nice vid. Many say the album is good, but I dont like the 1st 2 singles, so Im still undecided to buy the album.

A breath of fresh air for music. All of this trash I've been hearing lately then out pops John Legend holding it down on the charts.
I love the old school voice and his sound. He has his own sound that works well with his voice. "Ordinary People" was an Excellent choice for a single because it proved that you could have a hit with just a Great voice & a piano which is Talent. I'm glad that this song is blowing up.
