Ciara scrapped "And I" as the third single and went right for her planned fourth single, "Oh". She told TMHXone that the video will be shot next month.

This is a better choice, it should do really well on Urban and Rhythmic (Top 10 on both) but I don't see this doing much on Pop, it's too dark. It will probably make the Top 40 based on her name alone, maybe even Top 20 on Pop but I'd be surprised if it went any higher, although nothing really should surprise me with radio.
I agree that "Hotline" probably would be the better choice if they wanted a 3rd crossover hit.
I'd go with Hotline next and then "Oh" as the 4th single to close off the album, and whatever chart position it acheives will be a bonus (but I still think it would do fairly well).
As a 3rd single people will still be looking to see how Oh will perform, and I think it's good but it won't do as well on Pop as her first two singles.
I think it would be nice to release a ballad, to show people that she does have some versatility, as bad as her voice may be, she can put out a ballad, but I think it would flop. So you either show people she does ballads and watch it flop, or put out another uptempo sort of song and see it do well. I thnik I'd rather the latter.
Her signature is these upbeat, dance-friendly type of songs so I think she should just stick with that formula and forget ballads altogether, for the next album. Maybe just 1 or 2 but that's it.

Whoops that came out wrong... I meant Oooh Baby if I had to release a ballad but I wouldn't release any unless I had just run out of fast songs to release and everything was still going well single wise.

I definitely think "Ooh" is a better choice then "And I" & I agree that it could be a big hit at Rhythmic & Urban, but probably not Pop. However, I think that although "Hotline" would have be a good choice for Pop, it wouldn't get top 10 there & it wouldn't hold up very well at Rhythmic & Urban. I think "Ooh" is a much stronger single. "Hotline" or "Lookin At You" would be a good 4th single.

Is there a song on her album worthy of being released that doesn't feature a rapper? I just want to see if she can have a hit on her own, without a rapper included.

I already hear this song so much on my urban and rythmic stations. It's been in rotation since before 1,2 step even came out.

I hate "The Title" because I don't like hip-hop songs sampling my favorite song.

picture perfect u might wanna take a flick flick flick flick
As for her having a hit w/o a rapper, she def. could, if you think about it "1, 2 Step" would be a hit w/ or w/o Missy Elliott.

You could say it would be a hit, but you'd never know, now would you? 1,2 Step is a hell-of-a lot better than Goodies, so I wouldn't be surprised if it DID do well without Missy's stupid interuption. But fact remains that both of her hits have featured rappers, so she hasn't really had a hit on her own yet. Rappers on the credits do help, believe it or not.

This song is weak, mainly because of the sample, which is just awful sounding. She needs to release "Hotline" or "Pick Up The Phone" and just close this album out.

This is a safe jam. It's not a JAM like "1, 2 Step" and "Goodies," but it's still a jam and a safe choice for a single.
I was confused by the way Ludacris sounded when I first heard it. It doesn't sound like him to me.
This sounded good on KMEL earlier tonight. Not as good as "1, 2 Step" sounded on the radio for the first time, but it worked.

why was "And I" scrapped? -- was it even relased or just supposed to be the 3rd Single?

I love this song. I always thought that Ciara would be a one hit wonder, but after "1,2 Step" and this song I even consider buying the album. Could anyone please upload the song for me? Thank you in advance!

I'd go with Ooh Baby If I had to go with a ballad. I would've released Hotline 3rd and then Oh 4th. yeahh ooh baby is a HOT song, but its not really a ballad is it the lyrics are, but its not slow enough, now OTHERCHICKS is a SMASH ballad, i have to say other chicks could well be my fave song off the whole dayum cd!

Is there an mp3 for this? I think if I like this, I'm going to treat myself to Ciara's album.

I agree that Ciara's mentor Jazzy Phae was playing it safe with this release, as And I would have been too much of a gamble. Nevertheless, I think she will continue to hurt her credibility if she keeps releasing cuts with the hottest rapper fot he moment attached to them. Even Ashanti didn't do that with her debut cd cuts. I also think that Next to You or The Title would have been better alternatives, from an artistic standpoint(and given Ciara's unimagitive debut, that's already a stretch). Then again she may want to keep the slow tracks to a minimum...
It's funny because Ciara's splash in pop reminds me of Jody Watley's solo emergence in the late '80s. Both were dismissed as mere flashy Dance Divas upon their debuts and faced formidable opposistion from the hottest singer of their respective eras, Beyonce for the former, Janet for the latter. Watley, however, started off on a roll, but sadly lost fans shortly thereafter by releasing too many slow cuts.
BTW, speaking of rapper/female singer cuts and Miss Watley, does anyone know that Jody Watley's duo with Rakim 'Friends' is sometimes credited as being the first of its kind and hit #2 on the Billboard Charts?

But Ashanti was introduced to us featured on rapper's songs (Big Pun, Ja Rule) and then her first single used the same beat as Notorious BIG's song. I don't think she should take a chance to release songs based on an artistic stand point. She has just started her career and one wrong move could hurt her in the long run.
