This is going to be her third single technically and her second single under Sony. Supposedly they're sending a remix out. I think "Ease Your Mind" would be a much better choice, but she probably won't have a big hit anyway.

I heard a new single by her on KMEL a couple weeks ago. This might have been it. Finally KMEL isn't overplaying "Closer" anymore! Has she had an urban AC hit with this album? I don't follow that chart at all. It'd be shocking if she didn't. "Closer" was a bonafide smash!

"Closer" peaked at like #29 Urban AC. #83 Hot Hip-Hop/R&B Singles Smash!

GOAPELE Catch 22 Producer(s): Nate Greenberg, Goapele, Theo Rodrigues Writer(s): G. Mohlabane, S. Ramsay, N. Greenberg Publisher(s): Life Is What We Music (ASCAP); Sha-Sun (ASCAP); Nate Greenberg Music (ASCAP) Genre: R&B/HIP-HOP Label/Catalog Number: Skyblaze Recordings/Columbia CF042 (CD single) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: September 04, 2004 Earlier this year, Goapele inked a joint-venture deal between her label, Skyblaze Recordings, and Columbia/ Sony Urban Music, which paved the way for a rerelease of her fine 2002 debut, "Even Closer." Complete with savvy urban remixes, "Catch 22" is tailor-made for fans of Angie Stone and Jill Scott. A tale of life's twists and turns, "Catch 22" finds the singer wondering "How many times does it take/To learn just one thing/ Cause I keep ending up here/ And I'm not a scientist/ I just keep on praying/ That I won't keep getting/ The same results each day." As for the song's chorus, it's short and sassy— one of those one- listen mantras that immediately embeds itself in the brain. Infused with wah-wah guitars, the riches "Catch 22" contains are many.—MP
