In the reality of today's Alternative and Active world, this song is Hot AC. Not to say its a bad song, there's nothing wrong with Hot AC in any way. The reality is that alternative has changed to not include this kind of music much anymore, as seen with efforts from Vertical Horizon, Counting Crows, Third Eye Blind and some other bands who might have charted on Modern during the end of the last century.
Its nearly time for a seperation to have Active or mainstream rock, Alternative Active rock and Alternative Modern rock where bands like this, and newer bands with similar sounds might find actually "rock cred" that is unfairly being lost to too much nu-metal, and Active-Mainstream songs that are on Alternative stations far too often.
It will never happen. I know this. I just find it unfair that when good bands who do mellower rock are now just shoved to Hot AC and are basically forever removed from the rock scene because they don't have driving guitars/punk styles or heavier sounds that are being far too often imitated in not so great ways over the past 5-7 years.
It's time for a revolution.
