I knew Hung Up would be #1......But where is my favorite dance remix of the decade? Unwritten by Natasha remixed by Johnny Vicious. I know it was #1 club play song and Vernessa Mitchell had the #1 club play song of year in 2004 with Took my Life and it's nowhere on the top 50 of the decade...Kinda puzzled how they do it, but at least they got #1 right......

I think the chart is most likely based on the total chart points a song accumulated during its run.

I do recall certain songs like "Hung Up", "Music", "Keep Control", and "Dark Beat" spending multiple weeks at number one. And some had really good longevity like "I Need Someone" and "Sandstorm."

One of our resident Billboard experts could provide the full, correct explanation on the methodology.

The people who compiled this chart are utterly delusional if they think it bears any semblence to reality and/or what was actually played at 90% of the clubs in America over the last decade. I understand the computers at Billboard have their mathmatical strategies for analyzing which songs spent the most time on top of a chart whose very legitimacy is questioned on almost a daily basis, and whose relevence is dangling by a thread more and more with each passing year. In short, what a bunch of nonsensical rubbish! Georgie Porgie's a great guy, but I don't believe there's a club in America that's given his songs more club-play than Britney Spears over the last decade. I challenge anyone to prove me wrong. And I would love to see what kind of nut-ball numbers the pencil-pushers at Billboard have to back up this joke of a chart, i.e. exactly how they calculated which artist/song was in which spot. Simply baffling.

The chart didn't even exist from 2000 to mid 2003. At least they didn't try to make up for it by retroactively estimating and deciding which ones would have fit into the chart had the chart had existed.

"keep control" was #1 for 4 weeks. the only song of the decade to be on the top of the chart longer was "music" by madonna(5 weeks.)

why didnt the dance radio airplay chart excist from 2000-2003. i still never understood that. I think 2000-2003 were crucial years for dance music in the US, for me anyways it was my introduction to dance at the beginning with 2002 w/miami's now dead station Party 931.

Also i never even heard "keep control" until i accidently bumped into this compilation cd which had wendy phillips and other artists on there i think its some robbins compilation of 2002 or 2001 not sure

I'm also shocked at no inclusion w/Laava "Wherever You Are" and no Lasgo "Something" "Alone" and 4 Strings "Take Me Away" and "Diving" which were huge, but i guess they didnt meet the cutoff. TAKE ME AWAY is a classic tho, and "let me think about it" is def not.

honestly the best dance station is C89.5(Seattle) and one it excisted the now dead New York dance station was also good, they supported a lot more dance oriented acts.. Energy (san francisco) played way to much madonna

Yeah funnily enough, I heard "Blame" in clubs and on dance radio more than "Keep Control". But I LOVE both songs.

Some of those songs like Mel C were 1999-2000= maybe they didn't make the cut to be in the "decade" list. Where is all of Britney's remixes on this list- wasn't she popular on the dance charts?

britney has had very little dance chart success actually. only a handful of #1s, which is sad considering how many singles she's released and how many of them have been released with mixes.
