We've talked about one-hit wonders many times over, but what about those artists who have amazing chart life for an album, and then go obscure after that?
(Using R&R Pop numbers)
The first name that comes to mind is Robyn. Her debut album spawned 2 top 5s and a top 10, but nothing since then.
Ciara scored 3 top 10s with her debut album, but hasn't been in the top 10 since except for a feature.
Ace of Base scored 4 top 10s from "The Sign" including 2 #1 hits. Since then, they've only hit the top 10 once (Beautiful Life #9) and haven't hit the top 40 since "Cruel Summer" only reached #19.
Ryan Cabrera's first 2 singles both reached the top 10. He hasn't reached the top 20 since.

Well, there's Hanson. Their first album had four radio hits, Mmmbop, Where's the Love, I Will come to You and Weird. The album was number one in over 80 countries. That album was huuuuge it sold millions. Of course, now, they have their own label, their own recording studio, write, produce and market all their music themselves. But they rely on touring rather than radio and do just fine.

I know you're only looking at US charts, but Robyn and Ace Of Base went on to have significant (Scandinavian) success with later albums. Ace of Base especially, who had one of their biggest worldwide hits several years after "Beautiful Life" with "Life Is A Flower."
I still think Robyn has a chance to breakout again since her last album was so critically acclaimed and she even did some US tour dates.

Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill
Although sounds surprising, Alanis' debut U.S. album did become one of the top selling albums ever in the U.S. It spawned 5 top 10 hits including 3 #1s.
Her next album spawned a #1 on pretty much buzz alone, but has not hit the top 10 since. Sales wise, her other albums started good, but fell like rocks.
Her last 2 albums both failed to score a hit.

Another that comes to mind:
Gretchen Wilson - Here For the Party
Gretchen's debut album spawned 4 top 10 hits on the country chart, including 2 #1s. The first single from her 2nd album "All Jacked Up" went top 10, but fell twice as fast. She has not been in the top 10 since.

Well, PCD might have been way bigger thn Doll Flopmination, but that one still scored several hits (When I Grow Up, I Hate This Part, and the minor CHR hits Jai Ho! and Hush Hush). Not to mention, all the singles were big in Europe, specially in the UK, were all of them peaked ahead of #12.

Introducing The Hardline According To Terence Trent D'Arby (1987). It almost certainly kickstarted the alternative-R&B movement. His next album, in 1989, Neither Fish Nor Flesh... flopped hard, but the movement was in full swing.

No. There aren't even 80 countries with album charts. Madonna's COADF holds the record for hitting #1 in the most countries, with a little over 40.

Ke$ha hopefully will be one. Aye. Everything that Vanilla Ice did wrong, following the release of To The Extreme (1990), she is doing wrong, to an absolute extreme.
