It's Britney, bitch.
Still a great song and that opening line is perfection.

This is still one of her best moments. I wish I heard it more today, but I guess it's gotten buried under the onslaught of party tracks that came soon after this.

So unbelievably catchy - too bad she did that awful VMA performance with it.

The below quote sums it up perfectly. I remember this dropped on a Thursday and the clubs were f**king LIT for the entire weekend. I still have never seen a song pack a dance floor like this. It was absolute freedom. People were going crazy. One of the gay clubs in Toronto played this fourteen (!) times in one night. The DJ screamed into her mic near last call: "This is the last time I am playing this tonight, motherf**kers.". One of my favourite clubbing memories.
The song is sonic cocaine. It just hits all the pleasure receptors and it should have been #1 for ten weeks. It would have been, had she been in peak form. The production is a complete knockout and has not aged a day. Her best single.
"If you ever wanna see a gay club truly explode, request “Gimme More” and wait for “It’s Britney, bitch” to drop — a true declaration of survival and resilience. Ten years ago, magazines had prewritten Britney’s obituary. No one had witnessed someone so famous come undone at the seams so violently and so publicly. The fact that she didn’t die makes those three words feel so much more important now when you hear it today. LGBTQ people have always looked to their musical heroes to provide inspiration or strength. Protest anthems can be weapons or sometimes armor — but sometimes we also want these songs to strut and slap us in the face."

This is arguably her best song on the production side and my personal favorite overall.

I was initially underwhelmed when I first heard this, but it quickly grew on me. That iconic intro, ugh, amazing. I am also in love with those 4 intro beats for some reason.

One of the most BORING (especially for the club) tracks I've ever heard. Probably the single most overrated pop song of the entire 00s decade for me.

The way this began as her “flop” breakdown single, and has risen over the years to be her signature song with Toxic, Oops and BOMT. Gen Z has also embraced it, it’s gone viral on TikTok multiple times, and it’s has the most streaming gains in her catalogue. If I had to pick one song that is most quintessentially Britney - as the pop icon and cultural icon - it’s this one.

“Gimmie More” actually took me a second to totally get into. I always liked it enough, but didn’t love it completely besides for the intro. I think I wanted a slightly harder beat or something?? After the live performance, video and cd release I started to get completely into it. Plus I had a friend who loved it at the time. For awhile I totally liked at least 4 tracks from “Blackout” more than it. On a sidenote I just discovered the Lil Kim remix in the last few years??? Love it!! She brings a hardness to the track I like.
