This sounds like "Flying Without Wings". One good thing about "Sorry 2004" is that we won't have to hear it in 2005, because it won't mean anything anymore.

One good thing about "Sorry 2004" is that we won't have to hear it in 2005, because it won't mean anything anymore. Year changes didn't matter to Triple Image, who remade the Y2K anthem "Last One Standing" in 2002! I think Ruben will continue to get recurrent airplay in 2005.

I just realized that "Sorry 2004" would take on new meaning. "This is my sorry for 2004," as in he's apologizing for the previous year. I guess we'll have to wait until 2006, unless he's going to apologize for 2004 for the rest of forever.

The song is pretty good, this is deffinitly Ruben's best work to date.. I think this song is going to do similar to Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" on the charts.. I can see this one doing well.

Wait a minute! :oThis a remake of that Daniel Debourg song released a couple years ago. Now, the previous version was shipped to Top 40 and they just wern't having it! On my chart it peaked at I believe, 39, then fell out. It was also produced by R. Kelly just as well. I wonder where that blue eyed soul singer disappeared to, it was I guess supposed to be his debut single.

:o Finally!! This is fantastic...the first Ruben studio record I really like. I had a feeling R. Kelly wrote this song….reminds me a lot of “I’m Your Angel,” his duet with Celine Dion. LOL
This is the Ruben we all know and love….singing with passion and conviction. I would love to see this become a big hit around the holidays.

This is a good song for Ruben. It fits him so well. I'm hoping it's a blockbuster for him.

RUBEN STUDDARD I Need an Angel Producer(s): R. Kelly Writer(s): R. Kelly Publisher(s): R. Kelly/Zomba (BMI) Genre: R&B/HIP-HOP Label/Catalog Number: J 82876-64670 (CD promo) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: November 13, 2004
And they're off! The onslaught of fourth-quarter "American Idol" releases — from Fantasia, Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, Diana DeGarmo and Ruben Studdard—begins with second-season victor Studdard's "I Need an Angel," the launch single from his upcoming gospel-infused second album. This is an R. Kelly production through and through, with all the familiar bells and whistles that the singer/songwriter/producer has himself used a half-dozen times before, à la "I Believe I Can Fly." Studdard does a fine job with the vocal, infusing a convincingly soulful quality to a lyric that searches out assistance from a higher power. Still, this comes off like a connect-the-dots kind of number, a song we've heard over and over from Kelly and his protégés. Its success will more likely depend on the cachet quotient that R&B radio feels for the TV Idol. Heaven knows, radio is pretty much a requirement to sustain "Idol" careers; let's hope a few of those angels are hanging out at Clear Channel, Infinity and Radio One.—CT

I've seen Billboard reviews ask radio to play songs but I don't remember Billboard reviews citing specific radio companies before.

This is one of the greatest gainers at both Urban AC and Mainstream AC.
It's way too sing-songy for me.
