HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! :) :)
Normally, I post an airplay update on Friday's but that would be misleading today as the chart is impacted by Christmas music going away (huge gains for AC, Country and Christian) and year end countdown shows. So it's mostly older titles with huge gains and newer songs like Tik Tok with losses (Tik Tok is holding at #4 with a 600,000 loss).
So here's a brief update -- the Greatest Gainer is Taylor Swift "You Belong With Me" (+6.7 million). It's at #8 -- up from #23 at this point last week. Perfect sense when you think about it -- benefitting from AC and Country returning to regular play following Christmas as well as year end countdown shows on several formats (Country, Top 40, AC, etc.).
And Lady Gaga has currently moved up to #2 w/ Bad Romance on a 150,000 gain. Will be interesting to see if she can hold that all week as she is just slightly ahead of Replay which is down 2.4 million.

Thanks bks!!!
Hopefully "Bad Romance" will be able to top the Hot 100 chart. Not this week, but maybe later... gtfo Kesha.

Happy New Year bks. Interestingly, Kesha lost 600k in audience but sold 600k last week.

^Yes, but I don't think it will get a new Hot 100 peak :( It does make sense that YBWM is the one that got the most out of the year end bump. I don't think BR is going to go #1 on the Hot 100 at this point But it had an impressive run, and it's another top 5 (maybe #1) airplay hit for GaGa :) Thanks bks!

If Bad Romance hits #1 on airplay eventually but not the Hot 100, it will be her third single in a row to peak lower on the Hot 100 than BOTH the sales and airplay peaks.

8. TAYLOR SWIFT - You Belong With Me = 74.861 (+ 6.329) I know this is just because of year-end and stations getting back to normal, but :o :o :o :o

I didn't realize "You Belong With Me" is still so popular on the radio. I get that stations are getting back to normal, but this is abnormal. lol Good for Taylor. Still confused, though.

My oh my at Reba McEntire- good to see that country radio isn't as ageist as other formats- she will be 55 this year, and she scored her 23rd #1 at country radio.

I wonder if Fifteen can return to the T20 in airplay after all the year-end hijinx are over.
I do remember being struck by how even though Taylor had the top female country radio song of the year it was still only near the bottom of the T20.

Ha Male acts do fare better than female acts at country radio (in general?), but a 54-year-old female hitting #1 on her own at country radio is an accomplishment. :) (Dolly Parton did it at 60, but Brad paisley was the main act).

reaching number one on country for a 54 year old is not a big accomplishment! that format is irrelevant about age

Reba is the oldest female to have a #1 solo hit at country radio- and aside from Dolly (who was 60 when the Paisley hit hit #1), just two other acts older than 60 hit #1 at country- Willie Nelson when he was 70 and Kenny Rogers when he was 61. So, tell me again how it's not a notable accomplishment? :)
As a comparison, on the Hot 100, Louis Armstrong was the oldest male to hit #1 (he was 62) and Cher was the oldest female (almost 53). In other words, it's rare for an act 50+ to hit #1 on the Hot 100 or any viable radio format.

Yeah, Reba's airplay is impressive! If only she had more digital sales to help her on the Hot 100. Oh well, she has awesome airplay right now.
And I hope Carrie's Temporary Home keeps climbing :)

Still looking for "H.A.T.E.U" updates? That song peaked at around 5m audience. "Angels Cry" should be the next to track, as it's the fourth single from the album. Yeah there's a remix, but Mimi usually has remixes with R&B/hip-hop acts- so while this could be viewed as the first single from the remix album(s), it's also the fourth from Memoirs.
Re J.Lo- no surprise. Like said before, she will never approach the success she had at radio at the end of the 90s, early 2000s.
