That chart looks horribly off. Did they overestimate Ke$ha or did some really conservative retailers report first?

I've found that GaGa always gains a lot on the final updates, I guess it's the same with Ke$ha.
I'm sure it will end up as predicted.

The LW positions are really off too. Maybe the chart is just messed up.
Does iTunes report last? I know that both Ke$ha and Gaga tend to do well on iTunes, so maybe that's why she's so low right now

No I know how HDD works, I'm just dumbfounded to see Ke$ha so low at this point if she's supposed to debut at #1

Things change drastically at the 70% mark. It's common. It depends on which stores are reporting first. Plus, the numbers pretty close right now. In the end, she will be #1.

I'm loving Melanie's consistency on the charts. "It Kills Me" is definitely doing wonders for her. I believe her album will be certified Gold, which would be great for a new Soul singer. But we'll see... I hope so, but I'm not so sure. She's still barely over 100k now, so actually selling 500k might be tough. Certified, though? Possibly!

If she doesn't sell 500k, then that's cool. The fact that she has sold consistently since November is telling. If her label pushes her and releases good singles, she will be fine. People seem interested in her. Her sophomore album may be more successful. I'm happy with the way she is selling now.

I read that Rated R was certified Platinum. Is this true? NEVER MIND: Found it. Too bad she may not sell 1 million.

she may make it to 1,000,000. she'll be at around 530k this week, "hard" has yet to peak, and "rude boy" could be big, but we'll see...

Rihanna is sure to sell one million units in my opinion and it seems as if her label shares this confidence. Unlike how certain individuals proclaimed Rated R to be an "OMGZ FLOP", it seems to be holding up really well. With Hard currently blowing up on radio (soon to be top 10 on three different formats) it is sustaining sales of the album beautifully and will leave radio more willing to embrace her next single (which in my opinion is also a sure-fire hit). Just like Good Girl Gone Bad this seems to be an album that won't shatter records in the beginning but will have really good longevity.

^^ I'd agree with that. After Russian Roulette, I was afraid she'd just be shut off completely but Hard's performance at the moment speaks for itself - she's unlocked radio and I can't see them shunning further singles.

The album is still selling decently, so I'm sure it'll at least get very close to one million even if it takes a while. BTW, Mariah's Memoirs was certified gold this week (sales will be over 400,000 after this week).

Is it even an accomplishment though to ship 1 million if your sales never get close?

Ke$ha To End Susan Boyle’s No. 1 Run On Billboard 200The party girl is going to kick the Scottish lady to the curb this week, as Ke$ha’s “Animal” will triumph over Susan Boyle’s “I Dreamed a Dream” in the Billboard 200 chart that will be unveiled on Wednesday, Jan. 13. Her “Animal” album was initially projected to sell maybe 100,000 copies in the week that just ended on Sunday, Jan. 10. However, sources say it actually sold about 150,000 copies, easily beating Boyle’s “Dream.” www.billboard.com/#/news/ke-ha-to-end-susan-boyle-s-no-1-run-on-billboard-1004058048.story

I see no reason why Rated R won't move that amount in the US when all is said and done. Unless things go dramatically downhill from here...which they don't appear to be.

Go Ke$ha! I was worried that she was going to get Flo Rida type #'s! But her numbers are great for January! Not too mention she has the top 2 songs on Itunes, aswell!! :)

Just like Good Girl Gone Bad this seems to be an album that won't shatter records in the beginning but will have really good longevity. It for sure will go platinum. I would be surprised to see it sell 2.5 million like GGGB, though. Your taking about 3 #1's a re-release and 7/8 singles. I am not sure it is going to have longevity like GGGB. I wouldn't be surprised if they do the traditional 4/5 singles and start working on another album.

I strongly suspect that Rihanna's label rushed to certify this Platinum before the stores start returning their excess inventory from the holidays, which is really soon. By certifying now, they hang onto the numbers they had shipped during the holidays, rather than after excess stock has been returned, thereby ensuring she gets a Platinum certification. Smart move, even if it IS cheating the system a bit.

Ke$ha may get 150k? And Rihanna will go platinum. She got a slow start (even though it was technically her best) because of "Russian Roulette" but she's still in the top 20 2 months later and selling consistently and now that "Hard" is blowing up, everything will be back on track.

HDDs 70ish % is usually the final number after that they add non traditional non-scannned outlets so most ppl dont see any change after that but subo could go up after the 70%

I dont care what everyone says Rihannas numbers are disappointing. She will struggle to sell 1.2 mill in the states. Beyonce and Britney were already at a million this time last year. Maybe a Grammy perfomance could renew intrest?
