I think that's everything. If I omitted a song, please let me know what it was, but I only counted 32 songs, even though they usually play 33.
Pretty good selection of songs, though I don't think I needed to hear "YMCA" by the Village People! And I knew that it would be a matter of time before I heard "As I Lay Me Down" on AT10, since they seemed to play it every chance they got when the show was still AT20. This is the first time since the show was changed, so that's cool. Don't get me wrong; it's a nice tune, but it was easily one of the most overplayed songs in AC radio history.
Good spotlight too, since Diane Warren is one of the best songwriters around. The first song I thought of was "There You'll Be", but that was not played, probably because it was a Long Distance Dedication two weeks ago. There were a few songs I didn't know that Diane Warren wrote, like "Don't Turn Around" and "Live For Loving You". I'm sure many people are rejoicing since they didn't play "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion. Then again, it could be coming up in the next few weeks as a Long Distance Dedication. Or maybe they understand that we've all heard the song too many times.
I was surprised that "This Love" made the biggest move of the week. I figured it would fluctuate between 10 and 9 for awhile before moving up the chart a little more slowly. Of course, it could fall back to #9 next week if Lionel Richie recovers and Uncle Kracker holds at #8 or moves back up. We'll have to see what happens. Josh Groban's recent #1 hit (well, on R&R anyway) looks like it might not be long for this world, as it falls to the edge of the chart. Of course, it could spend another month near the bottom of the chart before another song overtakes it - remember, we had a debut on the chart last week and that usually doesn't happen more often than once a month. So it could be awhile before Josh's song falls out. But that's OK - frankly, I'd rather "Drift Away" take the plunge, since that song has been on way longer than "You Raise Me Up". Boy, and we thought "Follow Me" overstayed its welcome!
I wonder if the gap between "100 Years" and "This One's For The Girls" is getting any thinner. Or maybe Martina McBride will pull a Celine Dion and spend multiple weeks in the runner-up position without reaching #1 ("That's The Way It Is" and "Have You Ever Been In Love" suffered this unfortunate fate, as I recall).
Well, that's about all for now. Again, if I omitted a song, by all means, let me know.
