45 adds at Urban isn't that much. The Urban panel is down to 69 stations so the Top 5 Most Added were added by half the stations or more. To compare, on CHR-Pop Rob Thomas was added by a little more than half the panel and nobody else got added by a quarter of the panel.

Commanding lead at Taking Off now, 10 stations and 92 spins its #5 gainer, +241 from 48 stations
at UAC it's also leading the Taking Off, 6 stations and 67 spins it's #3 gainer, +122 from 22 stations ---
Clearly this is just starting, too early to say how this is actually going to do, but it's a very strong start. It may debut on the R&R charts this week, if not it looks like it'll have a really big debut the week after that.

I had doubts at first about this song... but its infectious and has the potentional for a top 10 R&B song. Its picking up speed in DC and Bmore it's week-to-week spins are still heading up, its #4 gainer at Urban and #2 gainer at UAC, and the top taking off at both... at this rate it will be top 30 before the end of next week, and the video's not out yet and the album isn't due for 6 weeks. So it was good timing. So far, so good, but not there yet!

LET The R&R Chart History begin! ------ the chart labeled 2/18/05:
Urban debut at #47 with 447 spins (it was 6th greatest gainer)
UAC debut at #28 with 154 spins (it was 2nd greatest gainer) -------
It's currently #4 gainer at Urban and #2 at UAC, with +360 and +150 spins, respectively. At this rate it'll be top 30 Urban and top 20 UAC by the beginning of March.

FAITH EVANS Again Producer(s): Ivan "Orthodox" Barias, Carvin "Ransum" Haggins, Faith Evans Writer(s): various Publisher(s): various Genre: R&B/HIP-HOP Label/Catalog Number: Capitol 19138 (CD promo) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: February 26, 2005
Faith Evans has weathered her share of drama. Her first husband, the Notorious B.I.G., was murdered. She exited longtime label Bad Boy. And last year she and husband/manager Todd Russaw were arrested for drug possession. Evans unflinchingly draws on this baggage as she belts out this pick-yourself-up-dust-yourself-off-and-start-all-over-again anthem. A commanding vocal presence ever since her 1995 debut, the newly svelte Evans sings with even more exuberant conviction here (the first single from her upcoming Capitol debut, "The First Lady"). The song's retro/contemporary mix perfectly accompanies its direct-hit lyrics: "And the media tried to say/I had a habit I couldn't manage/And I'm throwing my life away/But everything ain't what it seems/Just because it's on TV/'Cause they speculate and exaggerate for a better story." One of contemporary R&B's vital voices makes a triumphant return.—GM

Just heard this today. Faith's a very good singer and this sogn is pretty good. It's doesn't have "hit written all over it," but it's a great song nonetheless. One of the better R&B songs of late. Hope she can get a decent hit out of this.

for those of you whose radio stations are playing this, are they playing the version that was first put online, or the new version from the video w/ the percussion?

The station is actually playing the song right now. :o
But it is 2:00 in the morning....
It sounds like a blend of both. Like its not heavy at the beginning, but when the bridge starts, that extra hump kicks in.

What you do think? that should be the video version, they put in percussion (drums, cymbals) and hand clapping, instead of just synthesized bass. it really adds to the song. the video's really nice, it's not groundbreaking but it looks really professional and it works nice with the song!

I LOVE this, great job Faith. I was never really a fan before but this is a lovely track with a old-school flair. The vocals are just perfect, on point but not over-the-top. Also, Faith has never looked lovelier (in the video). I think when people get their lives together, it just kind of shows. Kind of how Mariah Carey looks good these days, like she's found some kind of inner peace.
