Honey, Kanye didn't deserve any general field nominations. There were stronger competition this year, plus he already received too many as it is. It's not like he was going to win anything for his worst album. There was no Kanye backlash. He rightfully got snubbed in the big categories. Put out a Rap album and he'll be a contender again. He did deserve general fields nominations. Heartless was one of the best songs of the year and it was a bih hit. It would have probably been nominated if it wasn't for the Taylor incident. It just happens the Grammies preffered to award good behaviour instead of good music.

Ratings are out and the ratings for this year's telecast was through the roof. One of the highest rated Grammy's in recent years and almost 8 million more viewers than last year (19 million versus 26.6 million viewers). Expect them to start awarding strictly big commercial successful artists from now on. That pretty much sums it up right there.

Beyonce always reinvents herself-- every album! Sasha Fierce was brilliant! But she has been calling her alter ego sasha single dangerously in love. I don't think she reinvents herself as she always ups her female anthems and keeps the hits coming along. Reinvention...hardly. Not all artists need to reinvent themselves...only ones that have to maintain their career like Madonna did.

I'm looking at the video where she drops her Grammy, and the comments are beyond hilarious. People saying that Gaga should have won. Do they know that NO ONE was predicting a GaGa win there anyways? Now, they are saying the Grammy broke because Taylor didn't deserve it. Do they even know which Grammy broke? Taylor is not a good singer or an advanced artist, but I would never understand the hate that she gets. Now, people are trying to curse her. LAWD!

It was just a joking side commentary. I don't even believe in god, let alone superstitions/curses/whatever. Oh btw, Honey, since Taylor's fans put so much stock in metacritic and love to wave it in front of everybody's nose, that Kanye's "worst" album? It got a higher metacritic score than "Fearless". :)

They are only setting Beyonce up to fall. She'll have to meet every expectation, and when she doesn't, because she will not meet them all, she'll be a flop, hasbeen, etc. Watch. I take it you're thinking Lauryn Hill, yes? If I'm not mistaken, she won 5 back in 1999, and by 2000 she was never the same.

Let's see:
You used Fearless's metacritic score to justify her win.
808s & Heartbreak, which you'd called Kanye's worst album, has a higher metacritic score than Fearless (So, if we go by metacritic, Kanye's "worst" album is still better than Fearless. LOL).
And yet you argued that Kanye's album didn't deserve GF noms because it wasn't good enuf, while Fearless did.
Um, where's the logic in that^? ??? You can't have it both ways.

Her sales, just like everyone else's, got her in. So, I'm judging by the artists who were nominated. Taylor had more going for her -- sales AND critical success, thus she deserved her win compared to the artists who were actually nominated. Kanye wasn't nominated, so he wasn't a factor in AOTY, and there were better albums that were snubbed. Maxwell is a prime example of that. So, yes. I stick by my word. Kanye got left out rightfully. Other artists should have been left out as well.

And when I pointed out that going by the standard that you used when it suited your purposes, his album actually ranked higher than hers merit-wise, your answer was well, better albums like Maxwell didn't get in either? Huh? How does that strengthen your argument that Kanye rightfully got left out? It doesn't. It supports the argument that it's political rather than merit-base. Yes, that's the way most things work, but not rightfully. And who are these 'other artists'?

Yes, that's the way most things work, but not rightfully. And who are these 'other artists'? This was Kanye's weakest album. It doesn't matter if Kanye had slightly better reviews than Taylor. They are really what and what in reviews really. The fact of the matter is, 808s & Heartbreak was Kanye's weakest reviewed and selling album to date. It didn't deserved a nomination, if you compare it with his previous works, which were huge critical and commercial successes. 808s & Heartbreak was not. It lost buzz months ago. It deserved to get left out, and it wasn't surprising it was left out either. You have to have more than just critical support to get in AOTY, which was moderate compared to HIS other albums. He did not this time around. The reason why Taylor got in is because she had not only solid reviews, but she had the commercial success and she stayed relevant throughout the year. Name an album that was the best selling album of the year that didn't make it into AOTY in its given year. Taylor totally deserved her nomination because it was HER year and Fearless was her biggest commercial and critical success. Point blank, period. Does it matter who I think shouldn't have been nominated? It's subjective anyway. I think Kanye West deserved to get locked out. It was HIS weakest album both commercially and critically, and it wasn't surprising that he got locked out. Taylor deserved her nomination and win because of the year she had. That is MY opinion.
