I don't understand the opposition to Taylor winning AOTY - I despise her, but it was the best reviewed & most commercially successful of the lot. Maybe the nominees as a whole were disappointing, but Fearless was not the worst of the bunch. I was expecting her to win big so I'm quite pleased she only won three. This. I don't despise Trailer Swiffer or her music but I do find her about as interesting as a bowl of oatmeal. Still, I'm perplexed looking back at how upset many were at one of the most predictable wins of the night. Looking back at previous recent winners for AOTY, it's painfully obvious Swiffer was going to win. She's unoffensive and liked by the industry vets and younger set alike. She has the singer/songwriter credibility that they often love to reward. Plus, she sold far more albums in the US than any other nominee. Did anyone seriously think GaGa or Beyonce had a strong shot of winning AOTY sans massive sales? That's the only time artists like them are awarded AOTY. NARAS probably would have awarded Dave Matthews in this category before either given their track record. With all that in mind, I'd say we're damn lucky Swiffer didn't sweep. She had all the right ingredients for it but NARAS thankfully spread the love around. All the big nominees got well-deserved awards for the most part and I actually enjoyed the show for once. P!nk was the highlight of the night. Here's hoping her next album is ridiculous and NARAS will finally show her the love she deserves.

Don't think Taylor is going away anytime soon. If anything, this best album win shows that she's got both popular and critical support on her side. I can foresee a bright future for her in the music industry. Go back and look at every Album of the Year winner and see if that held up for each of them. Um, you can say that about basically every other category as well.

I actually thought pic were real. She did drop one but nothing broke. We can attribute that to bad Photoshop and hater ation dedication. The show overall was a total booorrree. I don't think I've ever been so bored during a Grammy telecast. There were a few good performances/moments (Pink's performance/Beyonce's performance/GaGa's performance/MJ Tribute/Taylor's AOTY win) but overall, just blaahhh.

Congrats to all the winners. I can understand Swift getting the AOTY award and the others. Pretty good songs and the album was the most successful of the bunch. The only one that I had a problem with is her Country female vocal performance for "white horse" grammy win over Carrie's "Just a Dream". IMO, even she would say Carrie deserved that one. I don't think anyone will ask her anytime soon, but I'm just saying. jmo
Overall, a very entertaining night.

Ratings are out and the ratings for this year's telecast was through the roof. One of the highest rated Grammy's in recent years and almost 8 million more viewers than last year (19 million versus 26.6 million viewers).
Expect them to start awarding strictly big commercial successful artists from now on. (And this will probably mean that Susan Boyle has at least one Grammy, probably BNA, on lock right now.)

I was shocked at how little coverage I saw on the morning shows this morning. They didn't even mention the big winners in the news portion of the Today Show. Glad Taylor won some. But I heard her vocals last night were quite bad. I DVR'd it so I'll watch tonight.

LOL! God peeped that last award and wasn't having that. LOL. In Chinese culture, that thing would sooo be taken as bad luck and a bad omen. Anyway, I hope that watching Taylor's performance juxtaposed with her winning AotY (and having to watch poor Stevie Nicks reduced to singing "she wears short skirts/I wear t-shirts") would bring the voters back to their senses and finally end this ridiculous Kanye backlash. Still can't believe Kanye got snubbed because of that stupid incident. Yes, he's a tool, but he's also far more talented than Taylor. Not sayin she isn't talented; she is, but also so damn overrated. Enuf already! I just read that Neil Young won his first-ever Grammy last night, a minor award. Neil Young isn't much of a singer either, but as a writer, Taylor isn't worthy to wipe the bottom of his shoes. And to think that she'd won 4 including AotY (and Bey 16!) while NY just 1 minor award after what, 50 yrs in the biz? So Gaga spent the whole telecast being a non-entity, non-presence just so could look like a 50-year-old transvestite? Buffoon. LOL. Indeed. The dresses are not bad actually, but the clown make up and that hideous headpiece . And I would be pissed if I were the person sitting behind her.

Honey, Kanye didn't deserve any general field nominations. There were stronger competition this year, plus he already received too many as it is. It's not like he was going to win anything for his worst album. There was no Kanye backlash. He rightfully got snubbed in the big categories. Put out a Rap album and he'll be a contender again.

Disagreed. Love Lockdown, Heartless, Amazing are all better than anything Taylor has ever released. Yes, the album is pop, and? Why should he limit himself. I do agree, however that the fact that it's pop rather than rap caused him some backlash, but so did the incident.

I think the "incident" with Taylor was just the tipping-point with Kanye; he wasn't doing himself any favors beforehand. His overblown arrogance, big mouth, and tactlessness were eventually going to get him into trouble, with or without the "VMA incident".

TV ratings: Grammys score big SundayThe Grammy Awards drew their biggest audience in six years Sunday, giving CBS a huge ratings win for the night. :o :o Watch your mouth! I cried a little when my boys took that award. KOL just sh at ALL OVER people's faves and they sure are mad about it, too. Y'allz madness is my gladness. Can't believe this s**t won ROTY. It's OK, Josh. I still like you. Why is Precious on stage? I said the same exact thing. I think all of America thought that when watching. I was like, "Ol' girl finally got a chance to be in a music video!" Wow. Not even a minute in and she's hit about 4 bum notes. Way to go! I know, right? Her singing ability is definitely on a local level and her pleasant strumming? I can hear that on the corner or from a subway busker. She will NEVER get a dollar of my hard-earned money unless she can bring more than her C- game. Aren't most of Taylor's vocals rough? I still don't get the craze... LOL. Not surprised you would say that, considering you are a fan of real "singers". Taylor's vocals have been rough for more than a minute now but those innocuous songs that teenage girls can relate to will NOT be denied! Damn, Taylor. I know you have bigger tits than her but you don't have to be so rude! Take getting dumped like a man! LOL at the This Is It DVD commercial right after. That Jackson dad has no shame. LMAO. Nothing like plugging that DVD right after the tribute! I forgot who announced the tribute but @ them saying "This Is It: In Stores Now!" You know you gotta push those units so that Jacksons can make that money! Seriously though, the 3D was AWESOME. Carrie was in my face! It was cool that even the singers were in 3D. I owe my boss for picking me up 4 pairs of glasses from Target but it was stupid that the glasses weren't more readily available. Carrie did an EXCELLENT job with her parts (I love when she goes HARD with that swaggerific sway she does - lean wit it, rock wit it, Carrie) as did Celine and JHud. Urrrsher was... I thought SmokieSmokey sounded darn good. Why aren't y'all talking about him? Because this is Pulse and he doesn't have a vagina? ??? LOL @ Solange's son Julez getting on stage with Jay-Z and Rihanna! I was SO @ RiRi playing mommy to Yonka's nephew. Trick, don't you know that Yonka will have those foot soldiers of hers stomp the MESS out of you? You better know your role, girl. At this rate there is going to be about 30 seconds of actual song. Right? My roommate and I were soo pissed that even random phrases with no swears were cut out. Eminem brought his A-game to that performance though. Nice to see how invigorated he has been as of late. Lil Wayne held it together and wasn't a drugged up mess...SHOCKER. All in all, entertaining show.

Pink's And Beyonce's Grammy Awards Performances Top Today's All-Grammy Tweet DreamsThe 2010 Grammy Awards will likely be remembered as the battle royale of musicâs hottest female superstars. And while young lady Taylor Swift (who tweeted in the early morning hours, "I will remember this night, this celebration, the screaming and hugging of people I love. The words on cards of hotel room good luck roses..") may have walked away with top honors last night, but Pink took Twitter by storm with her death-defying acrobatic performance of "Glitter in the Airâ (pictured). Diablo Cody marveled, "If Pink can sing and do that, nobody has an excuse to lip sync again," while fellow nominee Katy Perry posted: "@pink you were the most inspiring woman tonight! The one with the MOST heart." Of course, no one was more proud (or subtle) than Pink's hubby Carey Hart who tweeted, "That's right, my hot ass wife @pink is trending topic. She destroyed the grammys. Enough said." hollywoodcrush.mtv.com/2010/02/01/pinks-and-beyonces-grammy-awards-performances-top-todays-all-grammy-tweet-dreams/
