Look at the #18 song on the streaming chart. You know YTube has to play a part in it.

March 23, 2015 www.billboard.com/files/pdfs/country_update_0323.pdf*Wow, the #1 song this week is the greatest spin and audience gainer on the Billboard chart. I definitely expect "Ain't Worth the Whiskey" to get that second week at #1 now. *I'm sure radio programmers really appreciate the BCU writers telling them what music they have to choose from for their station playlists.

Not surprising, Chris Janson's "Buy Me A Boat" debuts at #33 on the HCS Chart with the impressive sales numbers this week.

Has there ever been an explanation of why Billboard quit publishing the listener survey charts in these issues? I wonder if it's cause in so many cases it proves that the audience hates what is the most played and loves the most what is least played. Too much of a reality check that they wanted to sweep under the rug?

I wonder if it's cause in so many cases it proves that the audience hates what is the most played and loves the most what is least played. Too much of a reality check that they wanted to sweep under the rug? There hasn't been an explanation, but I can assure you that this isn't the case. There are all kinds of callout surveys/research methods available to radio stations, and some of them can be accessed through a simple Google search as well. If radio stations were playing only music that their listeners hated, then they wouldn't last very long. For whatever reason, the callout charts simply aren't published in the weekly Billboard updates anymore. The company that published them, Bullseye, still lists Billboard as a client on their website. The Billboard Country Update folks probably just thought they were taking up unnecessary space, or maybe Bullseye didn't want them published in there anymore.
