^That is true. It's very early to gauge anything with Gaga, since she's only 1 1/2 albums into her career. She risks becoming a parody of herself if she doesn't lose some of the outrageous schtick (i.e. the outfits, the wild performance props, etc.)

That's right- to the left, to the left... :) Among all the females touted as the "new Madonna," Gaga does show the most potential, as far as having all the qualities that have made Madonna, well, Madonna (the great music, a message, performance art, etc.)- her wild outfits are more reminiscent of Cher, though (though even wilder). However, no female will have that kind of impact on music, culture, all of that- she pretty much did it all, and we're living in a different time now. Thanks for the info, julio. Is "Need You Now" still registering high country airplay? "Up Out My Face" is crawling toward outpeaking the last single- if the rate of gains don't pick up notably over the next week, it's probably safe to say it won't approach IWTKWLI-like airplay. Madonna is another league, I think in 2-3 years the latest, everyone will be bored of her.. like what is now happening to Rihanna (the artist with the highest potential to surpass the Beatles #1 Hot 100 record) Rihanna wasn't even close to the Beatles' record for 20 number one hits. She had 5, they had 20. Even Paula Abdul and Hall & Oates had 6. I don't know if Mariah Carey will ever top the Hot 100 again, but she's the only actively recording artist even remotely within reach of the Beatles' Hot 100 #1 record.

I still think Gaga is more similar to Cyndi Lauper than Madonna. Madonna was never as outrageous with her image and stage shows as Gaga is, which actually was a good thing because it gave Madonna an opporunity to reinvent herself with every album. GaGa certainly has Madonna's intelligence, ambition, and the desire to say something through her work, though.

Beyonce has quite a few videos where's she's not gyrating--Irreplaceable, If I Were a Boy, Ring the Alarm, Me Myself and I, Freakum Dress, etc. I think, for the most part, she's a good video maker. I just think with this album, she's tried to recreate the feel of "Single Ladies" too many times, although "Video Phone" is probably a mix between "Check on It" and "Green Light."

But Madonna was the top female artist back then. The most influential, the most successful one. Considering that, shouldn't Beyoncé be called the new Madonna?

That's probably part of the reason why she can't get a song such as Speechless to become a hit.

She has rehashed, contrived, and all around inferior versions of Madonna's intelligence, ambition, and desire to say something with her work. And let's not forget the girl couldn't even get through a year and a half of success without getting "exhausted" and having to cancel tour dates.

To be fair, that's very understandable if you've had that much overexposure in the span of said time. Beyonce couldn't do it because I'm convinced that she is not human and runs on Duracell batteries for 2 years straight. ;)

GaGa certainly has Madonna's intelligence, ambition, and the desire to say something through her work, though. Not to mention Gaga is a far better singer and songwriter. But of course natural talent is the least important factor in determining ultimate success. EQ, drive and business smarts is far more important.

Come back when Gaga writes something matching up to just about anything on the LAP and ROL albums, for just two examples. Madonna may be writing simple lyrics most of the time as of late but Gaga's retarded gimmicky "rah, rah" nonsense in the place of actual lyrics doesn't hold a candle to Madonna's usual songwriting and pop hooks. And as far as singing goes, Gaga has shown no upper range (higher pitch, not belting) and her lower register makes her sound like a downs syndrome patient. Mind you I don't think she's a bad singer overall though.

it will be interesting to see what Lady Gaga comes up with for her 3rd album. I have a feeling...well it's pretty obvious to everyone probably, that she is peaking way too early. But she DOES cross boundaries, that's for sure. Last night I saw these crazy looking punk girls singing Bad Romance, and an old lesbian played Poker Face, lol. Everyone likes her! Even my friend who does not like mainstream top 40 music at all is totally obsessed with her.

^Roughly 28% of IWTKWLI peak airplay- it's on its way. :) I'm not surprised it's done a little better (thus far) than the last single- that was just way too slow and dreary, for any format. This is going for official play at pop? I don't think it has nay notable pre-play at this point. But if it continues gaining at urban and rhythmic, then maybe even a little pop play could get it close to IWTKWLI's peak.
Not expecting it to get as high as #60 on the Hot 100, though- the digital sales for Mimi's solo version aren't registering much. The rap "remix" probably will chart in the iTunes top 100 initially, though, at least.

I agree. Madonna was orginal and set a blue print. Many of the stars, that I like, being compared to Madonna have followed that blue print to some extent. How could they not? But I just don't understand that after one album and one release that people consider this a serious argument. It is quite easy when the tide is high. How resilient are they went they hit a low point? that will be one part of longevity.

^That is true. It's very early to gauge anything with Gaga, since she's only 1 1/2 albums into her career. She risks becoming a parody of herself if she doesn't lose some of the outrageous schtick (i.e. the outfits, the wild performance props, etc.) Wow, two posts in a row that I completely agree with you. Oddly enough there are many that are hyping her up for being different and original even though there are clearly elements of her career that she has taken from Madonna, Grace Jones, David Bowie, and Cher. Either way, you are supposed to take from the best and make it your own...I expect many parodies of her "style" in the future. I just hope that she can continue success in case a backlash hits.

Do you have airplay numbers for Pink too? Glitter in the Air and I Don't Believe You? He doesnt have the numbers cuz he is copying our uptade from Billboard Charts community with no crediting... This is lame. You can see this on the tags ''Billboard Charts'' all around the update lol I can get these numbers for you! Hope he can at least credit who is updating these long lists cuz is not a easy thing to do and after being posted anywhere as something that you made by yourself. PINK-Glitter In The Air= 0.437 PINK-I Don't Believe You=0.383
