I didn't get the last Top Pop Albums, so I probably will get the new edition.

The last Pop Singles book was just released last year, so even though the last edition came out less than three years (I think) after the prior one, another would be way too soon. :)

Not sure if they did it in the last edition, but in the new albums book, albums are separated by category under the act (compilations, Christmas albums, etc. are listed together). Not sure how I feel about that (like how new versions of old hits by the same act are listed after the original in the singles book)- I kinda like chronology. Usually, you can tell the kind of album by the title, so not sure why Whitburn is separating them. lol

$41.95 is cheap for the albums book.

Yeah, not a bad deal for the albums book. Maybe it's to make up for selling the singles book for its intro price and then lowering it by some $20 thereafter (for a time).

The separation of albums by category most likely is for all acts. It is funny, though, when an act has a small number of albums and compilations. Like when some acts in the early 90s released remix albums after one album.

I received my 2000's book in the mail yesterday. Hoo-ray! Has anyone else ordered that book? I received the Hot 100 book and DVD last week while on holidays. I was a bit disappointed that the chart reproductions in the book are quite small. Not a problem for those of us who have good vision and are under 40! Neither criteria applies to me. Also, there is very little in the way of an introduction by Joel Whitburn, which I found useful in the 1990s edition to highlight key changes in how the HOT 100 is calculated. (e.g. introduction of digital download sales from Feb. 12th, 2005 HOT100 onwards, change from 5 to 1 ratio to 10 to 1 for the calculation of the sales points component of the chart in August 2007). Fortunately I also ordered the DVD so I can zoom in on the PDF versions of the charts. If you have a computer at home and you can only afford the book or the DVD, then I would recommend going with the DVD, it is well worth the price.

The b&w reproductions are horrible. I am very disappointed because the 1980s and 1990s books are immaculate. I understand that there was a lot of color in the 2000s charts, but even I have b&w copied many of these better. Some of the photos look like black splotches. I really wish they had sprung for color repros - maybe a limited deluxe edition. I would have paid $50 more for that!
