Out to radio next and for sale this week. I only caught a part of this song, but anything from Tankian could be interesting. Maybe.

Hmm. Had no idea he had another record in the works and totally wasn't expecting one. I'll be waiting.

On the contrary, I believe this song is actually taken from his live album, Elect The Dead Symphony, where he performed with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra. Due out March 9th.
EDIT: Although further investigation reveals an album called Music Without Borders which may be released this summer. So this single could be promoting the live album or this release, but I'm voting for the former.

Yeah, it seems early to pull a single off a record so far in advance of its release, but it seems to me like that's exactly what it is. I did find the song and liked what I heard, although I can't see it making much noise on the radio because it's very structurally unusual and there won't be nearly as much of a buzz as there was surrounding "Empty Walls".

On the other hand, I'll be all about that Elect the Dead Symphony album. I was sold on that as soon as I heard his idea.

"The Charade" is posted on youtube as a song off his upcoming album Music Without Borders, but it's posted by some random user who has access to all rock songs early it seems. Anyway, this song is very good. I hope it does end up being the single because I think I like it better than anything off Elect The Dead.

Is this studio quality or live quality?

"The Charade" is a studio recording. It doesn't have the orchestra on the track, at least I don't think it does.
However on music choice today, it said it was off the Elect The Dead Symphony album, while on youtube it says it'll be on his Music Without Borders album. We'll see. Who knows, it could appear on both.

Got March's Modern Promo Only today. It's listed as the "rock version" if that makes a difference.
