www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/newsPage.cgi?news07964SADE, LADY A BATTLE FOR TOP WB’s Blake Shelton Six-Track is Week’s Top Debut, Disney’s Almost Alice Next March 3, 2010 Epic’s Sade and Capitol Nashville’s Lady Antebellum are a toss-up for #1 on next week’s chart based on one-day sales reports from all those retailers who haven’t chucked it all and opened medical marijuana dispensaries. Antebellum’s appearance in this week’s Target circular makes it the early favorite for a return trip to the top. Now the question is if either one can break 100k and maintain the momentum of six-figure chart-toppers since the start of the year. Warner Bros. Nashville’s Blake Shelton, with his six-song Hillbilly Bone, appears to be week’s major debut, with a projected total of 65-70k, based on the album selling for $4.99 at Target and $5.99 at iTunes. Disney’s Almost Alice “companion piece” to the heavily promoted Tim Burton/Johnny Depp Alice in Wonderland 3D movie opening this Friday, is up next, on target for 55-60k, after single/videos from Avril Lavigne and Shinedown. RCA Nashville’s American Idol alum Danny Gokey’s country debut, My Best Days, looks like an impressive 45-50k, the same as IGA’s Lifehouse album, Smoke & Mirrors. Beluga Heights/WB’s J.R. Rotem-produced Haitian American phenom Jason Derulo rides his two giant downloads, the Top 10 “In My Head” and “Whatcha Say” to a good first-week total of 40-45k for his self-titled debut. That’s the same total earmarked for Jive/JLG’s Raheem Devaughn, a $3.99 daily special on Amazon.com yesterday, for The Love and War Masterpeace. Mercury’s country artist Easton Corbin look to be in the 35-40k range, followed by E1 rapper DJ Khaled (20-25k) and Verve’s Jamie Cullum album, The Pursuit (12-15k). The market was down 8% vs. last week, down 13% vs. same week last year and now down 8% year to date. You may now continue to count down until Daylight Savings Time kicks in later this month.

I wouldn't call 40-45k "quite good" for someone coming off of back-to-back hits. It's not bad, but far from good. And @ Danny Gokey.

I don't think 40k-45k for anyone coming from a #1 and another top 10 hit is good. I didn't expect him to get good sales, so I guess it's ok. I don't see it selling a lot in the long run.
Anyways, great for Lady A. and Sade! I hope they can get at least 100k.

Jason's numbers are horrible for someone with 2 huge hits and millions of downloads

Those are pretty good numbers for Gokey with all things considered. Not surprised by Jason.

Wow @ Danny Gokey. I was expecting around 20K. He won't last anyway, so it's all good.

Derulo's projection is good? Considering "Whatcha Say" was a decent-sized hit, and that he has a second hit, 45K-50K isn't exactly stellar. Then again, the hook of that track was courtesy of Imogen Heap.
On the flip side, Jay Sean opened with 31,000, so compared to that, Derulo's showing would be a little more impressive.
As for Danny Gokey- he has some fans left over from Idol- and he is performing on Idol this week. But I suspect the album will have little in the way of legs.

I didnt know that and strangely enough I thought I had heard that hook somewhere before. I just listened to Hide & Seek by Imogen Heap and that hook appears 2.52 into the song.

Jason Derulo's sales are not shocking i expected him to do a little better than Jay Sean (which he did)

Pretty good numbers for Easton Corbin! Much better than what I anticipated.
That seems rather low for Jamie Cullum, though. But then again, a jazz album with basically no promo (right?)... I guess that's decent enough.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting Jamie to do any more than 25K and no less than 10K. All things considered (the genre, lack of promo, no advertisement visibility), I'm not shocked by his numbers. A little sad, but not shocked. Folks are missing out!

Sade has a very strong fan base.
I have a feeling that next week's final tally between Lady A and Sade will be very close, but Sade will come out on top again.

Lady Antebellum returns to the top next week, as the two-month streak of #1 albums over 100k continues, miraculously enough. As many as eight of the Top 15 will be new releases, with Blake Shelton and Almost Alice leading the way. Shelton's aggressive pricing and the opening of Alice in Wonderland this weekend could make it a tight race for the top debut. An exceptionally strong weekend for Shelton could put it in a position to challenge Sade for the #2 spot. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend: Lady Antebellum (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 115-120k Sade (Epic) 75-80k * Blake Shelton (Warner Bros.) 70-75k * Almost Alice (Buena Vista) 60-65k * Danny Gokey (19/RCA Nashville) 45-50k * Lifehouse (Geffen) 45-50kAlmost Alice * Jason Derulo (Beluga Heights/Warner Bros.) 45-50k Lady Gaga, The Fame (Interscope) 45-50k Black Eyed Peas (Interscope) 40-45k * Easton Corbin (Mercury) 40-45k * Raheem Devaughn (Jive/JLG) 40-45k Lil Wayne (Cash Money/Universal Motown) 30-35k Ke$ha (RCA/RMG) 30-35kBlake * DJ Khaled (E1) 25-30k Lady Gaga, The Fame Monster (Interscope) 25-30k * Denotes debut You may now return to researching the legislative meaning of the term “reconciliation. Looks like a clear-cut victory for Lady A's album this week- though HITS has been off before.
Gokey's performance on Idol was, as expected, generic- his album likely will tumble down steadily after the first week.

Aww, I wanted Sade to be #1 again, but their 4th week sales are solid. Hopefully, they hit closer to 100k.

Wow @ Lady A still selling so well. It's not really a strong album, but I guess it's the title track that's making it sell so much.

Well sure there's 8 albums debuting with #'s bigger than hers were this week. Most if not all will fall below her next week probably.
