This is going for adds at Hot AC, Alternative, Triple A, Urban, Rhythmic, and Pop. Hot AC and AAA is a complete waste. Just because they play Bob Marley doesn't mean they'll play his son rapping. I actually wouldn't be surprised if this got some cult success at Alternative, though I think it's unlikely.

I can see this becoming a surprise hit, but one of those that takes really long time and is slow, like 6 months, but it does become a hit
I like it alot, especially during the summer...I've been listening to it for a few months now

I don't see how this can be called a flop. He released this song to the underground and it's already in the 30's on the R&B chart without ever going for adds. Pretty good for someone who's never even had a hit or been promoted by a major label yet.

There are bootleg mixes with The Notorious B.I.G., Busta Rhymes, and Tony Yayo. They seem to be getting some mix show airplay.

Pretty good for someone who's never even had a hit or been promoted by a major label yet. Sadly a lot of fans have their eyes glued to the numbers and where it can end up on the Billboard Hot 100 thus that is why a lot of things are considered flops. I don't judge songs by their reception at radio because Clearchannel and other radio stations dictate to us what is popular. If it's hot in the streets ala Keyshia's I Changed My Mind it's a hit despite it's official chart position.

DAMIAN "JR. GONG" MARLEY Welcome to Jamrock Producer(s): Damian Marley, Stephen Marley Writer(s): D. Marley, S. Marley, I. Kamoze Publisher(s): Biddah/EMI April/Universal/Tafari, ASCAP Genre: REGGAE Label/Catalog Number: Universal/Motown (CD promo) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: August 07, 2005
Like father, like son. That is the first thought that comes to mind hearing this new single by Bob Marley's youngest, now officially a member of the Universal roster. Both Marleys are on the same mission: to espouse the truth using the universal language of music. Pulsating rhythms (including interpolations from the Robert Russell-penned "Jamaica, Jamaica") provide a mesmerizing backdrop as Marley paints a warts-and-all picture of life in present-day Jamaica (or present-day America for that matter) where "Poor people are dead at random/The youth them get blind by stardom/ Welcome to Jamrock/Out in the streets, they call it murder!" —Gail Mitchell

This would be pretty good if his voice was anything other than a monotone. And I like reggae about as much as I do country.

"Welcome To Jamrock" was the show closer for Alicia Keys's MTV Unplugged concert. Mos Def backed him up and Alicia sang the Ini Kamoze sample. Maybe it will give this song some extra exposure.
