Why do I start what I can't finish?

they made one good album, RA made 3. Wow, 1 good album? All the Monkeys' albums are good to great imo, though the debut still remains my favorite (followed by AM, Favourite Worst Nightmare, Humbug, then Suck It and See). yeah, good might have been an understatement. Nothing other than the debut has come close, while RpM, SSotCC and TS&TW are all very close

Definitely an understatement there - was kinda surprised that somebody with your music tastes would only consider 3/7 Rise Against (studio) albums to be good

LOL, I can see that happening. If "R U Mine?" has the standard 20 week chart run, that'll put "Do I Wanna Know?" at 74 weeks. It could beat "Savior"'s record! (Might as well go for it, it just passed "Uprising".) NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Rise Against are legendary. Arctic Monkeys are not. Maybe in the US. Go to the UK and that statement would be a complete and utter lie.

Those Active Rock top 3 are exactly my top Rock songs of the moment. As opposed to the Top 3 on Alt, that just suck.

The ones I left blnak I have no clue what to call them.
But still, 10 is labeled indie pop and 9 is labeled garage/blues. A welcome surprise, and seems that maybe a trend might overthrow? From there, we have 4 for indie rock, the more guitar-driven side of the spectrum, we have 2 indie-folk songs, 2 post-grunge songs, 2 pop songs, 2 "alternative rock" songs, which is vague but fuck it, 1 EDM song from Coldplay, 1 pop-punk song, 1 melodic hardcore punk (which I just labeled punk) and a few undetermined.

Cody titles them more aptly. First off; POp doesn't enter the Alt charts. Ever! Unless it has the word Indie, Electro or Anti etc..., before it. Interesting what Fitz and Tantrums. falls under. I was calling them Blue Eyed Soul for their Hall & Oates sound, but Neo Soul sounds just at home on Alt rock charts. Bottom line is Alt rock is and always has been a diverse rock chart. You don't see that much diversity on any other chart. maybe HOT AC AAA, but , not as much good songs as Alt rock.

Two indie-pop acts, by most classifications. NOOOOOOOO Most sources do refer to them as indie pop or class them with other alternative/indie pop artists, yes But let's not rehash this mess all over again unless anybody actually has some new insight to bring to the discussion, please

38 40 38 | Work It Out, Knox Hamilton | 3 INDIE SOUL (2)Anyways, diverging back, kinda surprised that you'd classify Knox Hamilton as "indie soul" à la Fitz and the Tantrums; to me this is straight-up indie pop

No, Hozier is darker. I always planned on classifying Knox as indie soul, I just don't know what to call Hozier. I would've classified "Take Me To Church" as "Absolute Sh*t" but that isn't a genre. He is kinda soul influenced, but I donno, he's by far the toughest to classify on the chart.

However, the chart is still about as diverse as it's been at any point during the last 15 years. I mean, the only difference is we're splitting the indie hairs as oppose to the hard rock hairs.

See, now I still find say, Black Keys (Garage/Blues), Fun. (Indie Pop), and Of Monsters And Men (Indie Folk) to be just as different from one another than Seether (post-grunge), Three Days Grace (Hard Rock), and Linkin Park (Nu Metal). But like I said, it's all subjective.
