Would Telephone counts as a sixth single? If so, when was the last time an album spawned six top ten songs?

Good for Hey Daddy. Thought it was going to flop at one point but now it's more than likely going to be an #1 R&B record.

Telephone will probably stay at 9 in the final airplay chart and may come in at #10 in digital, so hopefully it cracks the top 10.

Has a country song ever topped the Hot 100? A pop version of "Amazed" by Lonestar spent 2 weeks at #1 in 2000. "Ever" is a long time Many many country songs prior to this one topped the Hot 100 as well. The 50s through the 80s had quite a few

i dont think Carry Underwood was really a country artist until her album came out. People expected Carrie to be a country artist, but the song didn't really chart on Country - I checked Wikipedia (applying grain of salt here) and if that's accurate, Inside Your Heaven peaked at #52 on Country. So, at a minimum, it didn't get to #1 on the Hot 100 with support from Country radio. Also from Wikipedia, Kenny Rogers had two #1s on the Hot 100, Lady in 1979 and Islands in the Stream, a 1983 duet with Dolly Parton, granting that Kenny was sort of a country/pop hybrid like Taylor Swift; the same is true for Eddie Rabbit, who hit #1 with I Love A Rainy Night in 1980. Dolly also had a #1 with 9 to 5 in 1980. I'm sure there must have been somebody more recent than that, but I can't think who - Garth Brooks never did it, neither did Tim McGraw, George Strait, Brooks & Dunn, Randy Travis, Reba, Alan Jackson, Dwight Yoakam, Trisha Yearwood, Sugarland, Lee Greenwood, Brad Paisley, or Sara Evans. Shania Twain & Faith Hill both peaked at #2, with You're Still the One in 1998 and Breathe in 1999, respectively, as did Willie Nelson with Always on My Mind in 1982 and Juice Newton with Queen of Hearts in 1981. Charlie Daniels Band peaked at #3 in 1979 with The Devil Went Down to Georgia. Achy Breaky Heart peaked at #4 in 1992, as did the Dixie Chicks with Not Ready to Make Nice in 2005. The Oak Ridge Boys peaked at #5 with Elvira in 1981.

Inside your Heaven spent 12 weeks on the country chart. It may not have peaked high, but it was being actively played on enough country stations to remain on the chart for three months

The last country song to top the Hot 100 prior to "Amazed" was "Islands In The Stream" by Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton in 1983. While country artists dominated the Billboard 200 throughout the 90s their Hot 100 success was limited (until country airplay was factored into the Hot 100 airplay panel in December 1998).

However, we can simply amend the conversation to "The last song to top both the Country chart and Hot 100." That disqualifies technicalities like "Inside Your Heaven" and "At This Moment." Therefore, should "Need You Now" reach number one, it will be the first song to top both charts since "Amazed."

Inside your Heaven charted on the country chart. I Believe charted on the r&b chart. Poker Face and I'm A Slave 4 U charted on the R&B chart. That doesn't make them R&B.

Regardless of genre, specifically referring to the Hot 100
Any song that charts high will have some level of influence in the dominant genres.

It is possible that he was caught by the "Soundscan police" The advance airplay data and the digital songs chart are legally proctected information that is not normally available to the public It is also possible that it is just what he said....he either doesn't want to post here regularly or no longer has time

It will be a close call between Rude Boy and NYN I guess; most of the past week, "RB" had strong sales, which might be enough for it to have the edge on the Hot 100.

It is possible that he was caught by the "Soundscan police" I don't understand the soundscan policy. I appreciate the fact that they have a (very expensive) product that they sell, but the public publishing of SOME of the numbers can only increase interest in the chart. My personal interest in the US chart is almost exclusively down to the availability of these numbers.

Yes, making the numbers available increases interest in the charts and likely gets people to buy more albums but then the entity known as "Soundscan" would not reap any benefits from this.

I'm just wondering, because to me it seems like the exact same thing as the album soundscan data. I just don't see why they make the digital charts unavailable...

"Alice" lost the little bit of airplay it had rather rapidly there.
SoundScan and BDS make money on the information that gets posted for free at some forums- hence, the possible policing activity. Believe it or not, there as a time when the information was not being posted as it had been over the last several years.
