If nothing changes before the final update, "White Flag" will be the number 1 song this week. Is this the longest a song has ever taken to hit number 1? This is the first week at number 1 isn't it?

I'm not sure if it's hit #1 in R&R or not, but it did on AT20 AC. I'm glad it's #1 because it's one of my favorite songs of 2003 and 2004. :)

Yep, she made it. Anyone know what chart week she's in? (I seem to recall "If You're Gone" by matchbox twenty held the old record for longest climb to #1, not sure if that's still the case...)

Now that I think of it, I think the MB20 record was for Billboard's AC chart... might be similar for R&R's though.

I think matchbox 20 took 42 weeks on Billboard AC, but I'm not sure. Didn't Enya also take a long leisurely stroll towards #1?
And I thought Dido had already hit #1 at least once before. With this song, I mean. I know she hit #1 4 times with "Thankyou."
Five For Fighting still controls the largest audience tho.
Now if only Sheryl Crow can hit #1 on R&R AC! She's already been #1 on Mediabase AC Mainstream, Billboard AC, AT20/10 and Mediabase AC Overall!

I think their climbs to the top was about the same, as far as number of weeks are concerned. I'll have to go through my old AC charts when I get home, but Dido might have the record, if she didn't go to #1 already, but I don't think she did; you're probably thinking of the AT10 chart. As for Sheryl Crow, I have a feeling she's done, but you never know.

I checked the AC #1's thread (and also JCMF3's sans recurrent rules chart), and this is indeed the first week at #1 for "White Flag" on R&R's chart.

Yep, this is indeed Dido's 1st week at #1 on the R&R AC chart.
That means that The First Cut Is The Deepest is the only AC song to make #1 on AT20 but not on R&R. That certainly is interesting.
I have no idea on the time table for MB20 or Enya, but what I do know is that MB20 didn't hit #1 on AC until 9/28/01, while Enya waited until 11/9/01 to hit #1. So it really goes down to entry dates for these songs.

One more question abotu Dido's Thankyou:
I thought that song spent 8 weeks @ #1, but I checked the AC #1s thread and she only hit #1 for 5 weeks? Moreover, Faith Hill's There You'll Be I have as having 10 weeks @ #1, but in that thread, she has 13 weeks.
Can another member look up these records and see if I have truly been wrong for 3 years now? :o

Hopefully she will stay there!! This song should have went #1 and stayted there for weeks.
I hope The First Cut IS The Deepest also gets number one. It was fairly close, and on Mediabase it was #1, but fell to #2, so maybe it can rebound back to number one by next week.

Does anyone know how many albums she sold in the U.S? (just the album with White Flag on it)

On the US Music Survey, Dick Clark mentioned Matchbox Twenty took 43 weeks while in Dido's case it took 46 weeks.

Does anyone know of a place on line where I can listen to Dick Clark's US Music Survey? I haven't heard it around here for years. Thanks much for any help.

She'll have to wait yet longer to make a #1 official.
"100 Years" surged back 3-1 to out-pace Dido to the top.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

If Dido can't manage to sneak in another week at #1, she'll be the first one-week number one since late spring, 1998!
