Drake - Thank Me Later

OK, so I'm still kinda new at this, so I wasn't sure where to post this so please don't get mad at me :)

Will Drake's debut Album Sell 1 million copies in its first week? The official releae date is May 25th, 2010.

Some stats from his rookie season that may help him do it:

1. 13 Songs (5 solo) that made the Hot 100, Best I Ever Had and BedRock going to #2.
2. 7 song Ep So Far Gone sold 300,000+ after it was a free download for 7 months.
3. Featured on songs by Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige, Timbaland, Trey Songz, and Gucci Mane.
4. Co-signed by the last guy to sell 1 million albums in the first week, Lil Wayne.
5. Co-signed by emine, who has also sold 1 million+ in the first week.

There is already a Drake thread in the Artist section of this board. You could have put this in the Polling Booth.

But to answer you question before it gets closed or moved, it would all depend on the success of "Over" or his followup. 50 Cent, Lil Wayne and Eminem all had mega smashes during the time of their first week reign. "Over" hasn't garnered that much attention because it's not as catchy as those songs. Plus, his buzz isn't as big as it was last year when "Best I Ever Had" smashed. And you have to take into consideration competition and the sales climate. It's hard to say whether it would do that much. Plus, I don't know why people think that *1 million* would be the only success for Drake. That's too much of a reach and an expectation for a new artist. As long as he puts out a strong album, he will be supported.

i mean, if he sells 300k that will be a HUGE accomplishment. people don't realize that for a new artists, especially a RAPPER, anything over 100k for a debut is great.

I haven't heard either album so I can't say. I will say that Drake has released more songs that I like so it's more likely that I'll be picking that up than some one hit wonders album.

I think he will sell alot. But I don't think they'll buy it because "Over" is on it. He'll sell because he's a breath of fresh air and he's got plenty of hits under his belt.

I think he will sell around 700,000.

Bobby is not a one hit wonder...he has T.I's back, he will go gold with this album, he might not sell a lot his first weeks, but like gaga, he's gonna promote himself every second so he can get people's attention, i don't know why people hate talented artists!!at least don't judge him and u haven't even knew him!!when his album drops you will see good reviews he might not sell good, but in time his sales will improve, and increase.
