My fellow Alt/Rock aficionados,
Everyone knows our territory in Pulse Music Board is a rather quiet, safe, and peaceful place, other than my occasional foot in mouth comment or the wellknown Artie quips.
With the CHR and general news forums splitting into different factions and different boards, maybe a new location should be considered.
Perhaps we should start our own board for Rock or ask the administrators to leave us the keys to this one.
We could use this opportunity to expand the subjects of the forums beyond merely a chart forum. We could also talk more on touring, equipment, and other concepts, without being bothered by the erupting circus that CHR has become. The sky's the limit!

I'm not really aware of "factions" but I know that the other board people are going to right now is only a temporary one. So I doubt anyone's leaving the keys to anything.

I'm actually kinda waiting for the moderators to come back and say "SURPRISE! APRIL FOOLS!!!" If we were going to say that we have said it at midnight on April 2nd. Ironically, it looks like our original prank (the oldies board, which lasted for all of 2 hours) impacted this forum more than the hacking did.  |

The hacker changed the head admin (Matt4319)'s password and removed moderator powers from the rest of us. So until Proboards resets Matt's password, nothing can be done. Luckily we've been assured that they will be doing that very soon. |

And alot. and I mean ALOT of the CHR users kinda piss me off. Maybe it's just their music taste. But just seeing some of the retarded posts on the same board as these kind of makes me angry.

If we do a rock radio specific board, can we take Triple A with us? ;) I certainly wouldn't mind a rock-radio specific board, but as a few people have already mentioned, ProBoards is helping fix our situation, and hopefully this hacker guy will leave us alone after that. I didn't realize that the Garyn Fett thing wasn't the April Fool's joke. I just suspected that one of the mods was a fan of the Star Wars Expanded Universe (which I suspected the character to be from), but then I Googled "Garyn Fett" and it looks like its just someone's fan faction character. And then I saw everyone on the CHR forum go all  :o ??? :'( when the terms "p i n k", "l a d y" (no Jeff?) and various other terms got all hacked. In fact, it seems that most of the hack terms are related to CHR artists. The only artist that got hacked down in the rock forum were bands that just so happened to include the word "p i n k", which is why this really didn't bother me that much. Why did this hacker specifically pick us? I mean, from what I assumed, Pulse is a relatively quiet little forum. My best guess is that someone (or multiple someones) at a 4chan-type board finds chart-watching to be a stupid hobby or something and that's the reason we got targetted instead of another music board. |

I saw the oldies banner for a couple of hours, along with a few topic names changed to topics about classic oldies, which was annoying because it was a chore to figure out which song it really was. Then after a couple hours, all that stuff went away (except on the Pop forums, evidently) and everything looked back to normal. I thought, "Cool. The annoying oldies titles are over with. I guess we're gonna be rolling with more than one theme today. :) Who's Garyn Fett?" I still think it's hilarious that the irrelevant Smooth Jazz forum (sorry, but it pretty much is) was wiped clean of all its topics. :) Why did this hacker specifically pick us? I mean, from what I assumed, Pulse is a relatively quiet little forum. It was probably some disgruntled, obnoxious, drama queen former user who'd been banned and wanted to take his revenge. Or as Steve (crash46) put it to me when I scoffed at how someone could be so petty as to bother hacking a chart-obsessed music message board: "I know, but some of those kids, they get a one-week ban from Pulse and their whole world falls apart. One of 'em probably spent that week learning how to hack a board." I thought it was all a big joke at first. The ultimate April Fool's prank, pulled by some of the mods, just trying to get a doomsday, hysterical reaction from the drama queens for a good laugh, the prolonging of which beyond April 1st would only make it more believable. Now I know that's just not the case. |
