Britney record sales are definetly past 125 million. her singles are huge sellers . OIDIA, Circus, Womanizer, BOMT, Toxic...those singles alone + her album sales take her across the 100 million mark. Yeah. I don't think people realize how huge her singles were/are today BOMT was in itself huge. That alone sold like 9 million copies globally. OIDIA sold like 6 million, Womanizer also ended up crossing the 5 million mark too. She has had some huge singles across the board worldwide, I don't think people really get that. In addition to her monsterous album sales she has also had incredibly successful singles too.

I don't know but I feel some of the numbers being posted here are a little inflated, but I don't know so I can't say. :(

Why? Jive hasn't updated her RIAA sales in years. Record labels aren't reliable when it comes to updating information or giving real totals or estimates. In Britney's case it's the rare occasion where she is under reported. ... Gurrl. I distinctly remember a discussion you and I had where you provided a press release from Britney's label to back up a claim that Blackout had sold well over 3 million copies WW. Even though I said pretty much what you wrote in the quote above, I specifically remember you claiming you'd trust the label's figure over any other source. Quit playin!

In 2007, Britney's record label put her at 83 million records/units worldwide. You mean to tell me "Circus" sold 37 million records? Britney's sold 80 million based on albums alone. BOMT has sold 25 million. Between OIDIA which has sold 21 million, Britney which has sold 12 million, ITZ which has sold 8 million, GH:MP which has sold 6 million and Blackout and Circus which have sold 3 and 4 million respectively are you going to tell me she has only sold 3 million singles? No way. No way. She's sold 80 million albums. Combined with singles she's at about 120 million. Why? Jive hasn't updated her RIAA sales in years. Record labels aren't reliable when it comes to updating information or giving real totals or estimates. In Britney's case it's the rare occasion where she is under reported. Yeah that's a lie. She's sold around 90 million. Receipts? I'm not here for erroneous claims. Britney has sold a little under 90 million records. Until I see something from the label that states over 100 million records sold then I'll be more inclinded to believe you. But until then it remains as stated.

Her label and official site reported 83 million records in 2007. And if labels inflate figures like people here claim, then obviously she has sold less than that amount. No way she's over 100 million records.

Couple more things that I want explained to me:
1. Michael Jackson's 780 million sales claim. I want that broken down. Is that supposedly including Jackson 5/Jacksons sales? Either way it sounds like pure baloney to me. And has he really sold 110 million with Thriller?
2. Who are the top 5 best-selling groups of all time? Is it:
1. The Beatles 2. ABBA 3. Queen 4. Led Zepplin 5. The Rolling Stones
Or is that wrong?
3. Is Nana Mouskouri really the best-selling female artist ever?

Bigger than Elvis, Michael Jackson, Madonna, bigger than all of them, that's all I know for sure.

Led Zepplin 5. The Rolling Stones Or is that wrong? 3. Is Nana Mouskouri really the best-selling female artist ever? 1.) MJ's global album sales are now at 240 million or so and his single sales are about 120 million with downloads. His market-by-market breakdown was compiled by MJDangerous at the UKMix forum and is posted in MJ's thread there. The 750 million figure started being bounced around after he died in random news articles and by TV hosts. It's bogus and I'm sure the executives as Sony were ROTFL and wishing that were true. In fact, I'm sure they'll start using that figure at some point. The 104 million for Thriller originated from a bogus WMA and Guiness Book entry that MJ and his people bought. A couple years before the 25th Anniversary edition of the album Sony themselves claimed 60 million sold globally for the album, their biggest claim ever. Add in sales of the regular edition since then, sales of the 25th edition between its release and his death, and new shipments of Thriller since his death and the album is at 70 million. 2.) Combined global albums and single sales: -The Beatles -MJ -Madonna/Elvis And then it's a toss up between Queen, Abba, The Rolling Stones, and Elton. 3.) Nana hasn't even sold 200 million records. The 450 million figure and related best selling female claim originated in a random Maxim magazine article of all places. They literally just took her 450 albums (you read that right) and applied a million to each one. So obvious, so stupid. She never made an impact in the US, and only made a middling impact in the UK and Japan. At the time she was popular you didn't sell THAT many records without selling anything notable in the 3 biggest music markets. It doesn't work that way.

Receipts for these claims about MJ please? Sony. And yet again, all of this is archived at UKMix. The 104 million for Thriller nonsense was at the World Music Awards, the same joke show that called MJ the highest selling act of the century even though the Beatles clearly bury him in to the ground.

Thanks PDC. *Kisses*
So it's safe to say that Mariah, Celine, Whitney, Barbra, and maybe even Janet & Britney own Nana as well?

The first 4, yes. (Less so Babs and Whitney.)
Janet and Britney? Close.

Thriller can't be at a 100 million. It was a little less than 50 world-wide just a few years ago. He has sold 12 million in the last year, I heard but even if ALL of that went to Thriller it still would not be close to a 100 million.

Well it obvious someone was lying in order to spice up his numbers. I've heard 40, I've heard 50, I've heard 110...it's the same mess with the best selling female artist deal. Celine, Mariah, Madonna, and Whitney have all claimed to be the biggest female artist at the same time.

It's because noone tracked global sales before they do now. And yeah, Thriller's sale I believe was around 45 million. A 45-100 million sales range is definitely up for question. I'm not sure also about Mariah Carey's Music Box and Daydream worldwide sales. For someone whose success in the states isn't mirrored around worldwide even at her peak, she sure sold alot of those albums ![:-X](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/lipssealed.png)

Especially with Circus (song), that sold 5.5 million worldwide with one performance. www.ifpi.org/content/library/DMR2010.pdf *scroll down to pg. 10* so I honestly can't image how huge her other singles sales are worldwide! It's pretty clear that Britney is a spectacular digital seller, so why people act like her overall single sales are little....IDK

Can you imagine Britney topping the Hot 100 singles sales with Stronger and From The Bottom of My Broken Heart, what more with her other singles right? Well, on a global scale, she's not the best digital seller but she's up there with the best.

WB never called Madonna the highest selling female artist, and Madonna never demanded talk show hosts or sporting event/award show announcers introduce her as such like Celine and Mariah do. Notice she also avoids the WMAs like the plague that they are. Madonna's global record (albums + singles) sales are about 90 million more than Celine's, whom is ahead of Mariah by a decent margin. Most people don't realize Madge has sold more singles globally than Mariah and Celine combined. Literally.

I'm sure the WMA clip and/or news reports about it are on YouTube.

If there were such demands regarding Celine's introductions I really doubt they'd come from Celine herself, but from her manager (husband). She couldn't care less about such things.

And that was no shade at Celine. She's so nice I'd feel bad about criticizing her.

The interesting thing about Celine/Mariah/Whitney is that they all have sold around a similar amount ~180-200 million globally. So It's understandable why they've had those titles. However Madonna is just so far beyond all of them. I wonder how much Janet has sold. I can't find any numbers for her.
