Platinum artist Tony Yayo in tribute to victims

G-Unit members Tony Yayo, 50 Cent and Lloyd Banks performed live in the Polish capital Warsaw last Tuesday. I was at that concert. At this time, I would like to thank Tony on behalf of myself and all the Poles for these few important words.

Yayo's "Thoughts Of A Predicate Felon" was his commercial debut album in 2005. It debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 and has the Platinum status. The lead single "So Seductive" featuring 50 Cent peaked at #48 on the Hot 100.

The President of Poland Lech Kaczynski and the First Lady Maria Kaczynska. Both were killed together with other 94 persons in yesterday's plane crash in Russia.

"Thoughts of a Predicate Felon" must have gone platinum in Poland, because it CERTAINLY DID NOT go platinum in the US. I don't know why people are just random pulling numbers out of their behinds in this thread with absolutely no facts.

The album was released on August 30, 2005 and sold exactly 214,687 units that debut week according to Soundscan. And here is a Billboard article about G-Unit sales from December 2006 which says Tony Yayo had sold 509,000 units since its debut.

I cannot even find Tony Yayo's certifications on RIAA.com. I don't think his album was certified Platinum. I remember his album opening up with solid numbers and then falling down the charts in a quicky. I remember that there was a write-up in a magazine about G-Unit possibly inflating Yayo's first week sales by buying his album. I guess they came to that conclusion based on the way it performed there afterwards.

Yayo didn't go platinum and while gold is good these days, the album was widely regarded as a flop back when it was released.

Exactly, I remember us at AllHipHop forums watching his album and clowning it for taking a year to go Gold, as well as watching Jadakiss' 'Kiss of Death' take mad long to sell 1 million.
