The second single from Monica's Makings Of Me. It was (co-)produced by Missy Elliott and samples Curtis Mayfield's "The Makings Of You". This song failed to make the Hot 100 and peaked at #48 on the R&B chart. The song is very soulful and ghetto but I still love it. lol.

it is actually a good song, the video sucked tho. the lead single just doomed that project, and i think the sample was also too heavy on this to be a radio hit. but in and of itself, its great.

Corny as all hell, but I love it. Great sampling.

This was the second single from her album, "The Makings of Me." It was produced by Missy Elliott, and it samples Curtis Mayfield's "The Makings of You." It failed to make the Hot 100 and only peaked at #48 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart. I liked this, along with a handful of songs on that album.

Still one of my favorites from her. The sample and her vocals just click so well, imo.

It's alright. Some of the lyrics are laughable ("the 25th day of Christmas?")

This era was truly uneventful. I was glad this flopped.

That "25th day of Christmas" line bothered me when it was out. This song is the definition of a ghetto R&B ballad. lol. I still love it.

I like it, but it was "So Gone" part 3. Not surprising it flopped.

So, so, so ghetto, but so good. I loved the sample.

Just the "25th Day of Christmas" line?
The main "hook," if you can call it that, was the painfully bad "Boy you remind me, remind me of my Gucci shoes"

This worst line in the song is, "You and I are tighter jeans on my ass."

This worst line in the song is, "You and I are tighter jeans on my ass." Thats my favorite though. Where is a thread for "Sideline Hoe"? She was serving some hard hitting lyrics with that album
