^yep. "i love college" was gimmick rap at its best. A fun gimmick is better than tedium. Nothing on You is one of the most boring #1s in ages. Not offensive like Use Somebody -- but hella boring. Whereas Airplanes is fun and fresh.

Asher wasn't meant to have a career. He had one good song and then he left. And for that, we are all grateful.

The good news is that another relative newcomer is rolling toward a #1 debut, while an emerging rock band is neck and neck with the mighty Lady A for #2. But unless B.o.B. has himself a Lakers-like breakout performance over the weekend, it looks like he’ll fall short of six figures. Still, for a record that was expected to do closer to 50k on Tuesday, this dude is coming on strong. So let’s go for the glass-half-full approach on the B.o.B.ster. Not only that, but IDJ has five records in our projected Top 15, followed by surging Columbia with three. Here’s the story heading into the weekend: * B.o.B. (Atlantic) 80-85k * Bullet for My Valentine (Jive/RED) 65-70k Lady Antebellum (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 65-70k Justin Bieber, My World 2.0 (Island/IDJ) 60-65k Usher (LaFace/JLG) 40-45k AC/DC, Iron Man 2 (Columbia) 40-45k * Melissa Etheridge (Island/IDJ) 40-45k Glee Cast, Power of Madonna (Columbia) 28-32k * Miranda Cosgrove (Columbia) 28-32k Now 33 (Capitol/EMI) 28-32k Lady Gaga, The Fame (Interscope) 24-27k Justin Bieber, My World (Island/IDJ) 24-27k Zac Brown Band (Atlantic) 21-24k * Hole (Mercury/IDJ) 21-24k Ke$ha (RCA/RMG) 19-21k Black Eyed Peas (Interscope) 19-21k * Denotes debut You may now return to coming up with songs for your wind-themed iTunes playlists. Usher is projected to sell in the 40k range.
I hope B.o.B sells more than 85k. I only saw him perform one time last week, though he came to my city to promote his album.

Nothing On You > I Love College (but I like both) Be By Myself > Airplanes (but I LOVE both)
B.o.B sh!ts on Asher Roth point blank though. 80-90k is kinda what I expected for Bob, it's decent enough and I'm sure the album will hold up on the charts over time and do what Kid Cudi's album should have done.

^ i wouldn't say Cudi had no staying power ( i think he's at about 320k or so), but he really did under-perform after that 1st week.

Nice sales for Melissa Etheridge. :o Poor sales for Hole & B.O.B. Chrisette Michele debuted at #1 with that same total last year and she only had an Urban AC hit on her hand with "Epiphany". Nice little boost for Su-Bo! :o
