Was it really pre-recorded like most people are affirming on YouTube?

92k opening in Canada. Isn't that equivelant to like 920k in the U.S.? Insane! It's the biggest debut for a French album there in the Soundscan era. Actually 95 % of the sales came from the Quebec province alone...which makes her sales even more impressive, since 'just' 8 million people live there. :o

Damn! No wonder why she's still so popular. No other diva from the 90s (or singer period) can sing like this. After all the tours, the shows, albums, she managed to keep her voice. It's very impressive. Her humbleness makes her even more likable. OK I just watched the video. Her voice is stunning and she has such great control over it (are you listening Xtina??). After Rolling in the Deep and now GLOA, I'm convinced Celine should do a full-on covers release - pick 16 songs - uptempo & ballads. Guaranteed to be a huge seller. Even with GLOA, she didn't copy WH note-for-note. CD done a nice job over the years with covers from Alone to IYAMT to TPOL, etc. Even her version of You Shook Me... with Anatacia was awesome.

I've always wanted Celine to do an album of rock and soul uptempos, original or cover it doesn't matter.
Some of my favorite of hers have been "River Deep Mountain High," "Refuse to Dance," the One Heart album uptempos, "Sorry For Love," "Eyes On Me," and her Elvis covers/impressions in some of her live shows.

Was it really pre-recorded like most people are affirming on YouTube? It was definitely lipped or dubbed over after the fact. Still a good vocal either way.

Yep, which is odd to me (considering the acapella of "Saving All My Love For You" in the intro was just as good, vocally, as the feature performance).

The album's success took everyone by surprise. I don't know the reason behind it. Maybe it is the Adele effect - people looking for more stripped down music.

People are just finally coming to terms with the fact that Céline Dion is a goddess and the world is slowly (thanks, record label folks), but surely bowing down to her greatness. :'( :'(

Apparently the album is performing phenomenally in France as well, selling over 300,000 copies to date (routinely pulling 60k a week). It has recently been certified diamond. For reference, 500k merits a diamond certification in France.

I just got tickets to see her Vegas show next month. I'm really excited. It's definitely been a "bucket list" item for me for the past few years!

Wow! This album is selling like hotcakes! If she actually has promotion and a second single lined up for the English album, I can only imagine the WW success.
(forever upset at the handling of the TC follow-up singles)

It's now looking like an April release date for the English album.

^And then it'll be "summer," and then "fall," and so on... :/ On the cover of a magazine called Hollywood, whose history I didn't bother to look up at all:

I've just returned from seeing her show this week. It was good, but I expected different. I have the dvd of her first stint at Caesars, and thought it was incredible, even watching on tv. This show now is much different. It is just her and an orchestra. Which was amazing and beautiful, but wasn't the theatrics I had been expecting. Also, I wish she sung more Celine songs. She sang Open Arms, 3 James Bond songs, Rolling in the Deep, a French song (that I don't think she's recorded), a Billy Joel cover....
I was hoping for some classic Celine. I didn't get I Surrender, A New Day Has Come, That's The Way It Is, Taking Chances, To Love You More, I Drove All Night, I'm Alive, If You Asked Me To, etc.
Even "Because You Loved Me", "It's All Coming Back...", and "The Power of Love" were mashed up in a roughly 6 minute medley.
That being said, her voice was outstanding. Probably shining the most on "The Reason".

I've been counting down my Top 30 Celine Dion songs in the Personal Charts forum and I've yet to be graced by the presence of whom I've always thought of as Pulse's in-house, resident, biggest Celine fan: johnm2011. Was I mistaken? Has he moved out? Is there any news on a single from this album?

The english album has been postponed until fall. It might pissed off fans, but they took the best decision. Her french album is having a huge success all over the francophonie, selling more than 1 million copies (I mean, for a french album, it's huge). There's no need to rush the english album.

Snakes, Sales & Celine Dion: It’s Lunar New Year In China This weekend marks the Chinese New Year, a time when the world’s second largest economy grinds to a halt and millions empty from cities to villages and towns to visit family. Airports and railways stations have been overrun with travellers absorbed into this ‘Great Migration’.
The New Year -- or Spring Festival as it is called here -- is the most important holiday of the year, when the days and nights explode with colourful parades, costumes and fireworks. And on Saturday evening a billion people will be watching state broadcaster CCTV’s annual Lunar New Year gala. A billion people! It is a Dick Clark-style spectacle that features some of the biggest Chinese performers.
For 24 years the headliner was Peng Liyuan, a soprano who holds the rank of army general. She retired from the show in 2007 when her husband, Xi Jinping, joined the Communist Party Politburo and he is set to officially become China’s president next month. Forecasters believe it is an auspicious transition as Xi was born in 1953, a Year of the Snake.
This year, however, marks the first time the gala’s main act is a foreigner. As global superstars go there could be a lot of contenders. But in China, nothing says New Year quite like Celine Dion. She will perform "My Heart Will Go On" and a duet in Chinese with a folk singer. It is unknown how much the Canadian chanteuse will be paid for the appearance.
While some people (especially jaded ones) might question why a billion Chinese citizens would want to be serenaded by a song from a movie released 15 years ago, here it actually musters some logic. China has a serious crush on Titanic. The state-run People’s Daily newspaper reported that the 3-D re-release of the movie last year brought in $156 million at box offices across the country.
(By way of personal experience I can also attest to baffling cases of Celine Dion infatuation among Palestinian militants, Libyan rebel fighters, and Afghan security guards. Trust me.)
The CCTV gala will run four hours and feature comedy sketches, ballet, and traditional songs. However, the Global Times reports that a rival channel is staging a separate broadcast that will feature South Korean star, Psy, doing his "Gangnam Style" dance.
