I think "Not Afraid" is a great song, but its not radio friendly. If you look at the top songs in airplay, they're either a club jam (OMG) or some sort of love song (Nothin On You); that's what the industry is all about now.

He can outsell most the first week but after that... his songs are pretty much dead. Still top 10 on Itunes, and Relapse outsold Jay, Kanye, and pretty much every other rap(rapish)album with pretty limited airplay. I mean it could have been from comeback hype but I guess we'll see with the next album. *and I'm no Em stan btw...just to make it clear..lol* |

I think "Not Afraid" is a great song, but its not radio friendly. If you look at the top songs in airplay, they're either a club jam (OMG) or some sort of love song (Nothin On You); that's what the industry is all about now. Nothin on you is a better song than OMG in my opinion. ;) |

Geez it looks like Usher will still be number one this week with OMG. It seems like every incredible gain Katy Perry makes, Usher matches it. Usher will ALWAYS have the upper hand because he will have urban support which Katy won't. Again, another prime example of why the multi-format thing is unfair to strictly pop/country/rock songs, they don't get nearly the same treatment as an urban-song would that crossed over to pop. And then again, I wouldn't even call "OMG" an urban song, but he is clearly getting support on urban.
How high can an pop-format only song go? Katy will have to sustain an incredible digital sales leads over Usher to get to #1 seeing as airplay isn't going to do it for her.

Nice to see Esmee Denters getting some airplay.. I wonder if this single will help launch her here with the help of Justin Timberlake on vocals? It's sad that "Outta Here" didn't do anything here..
