This was one of the obvious single candidates to me upon first listen of the album, along with the title track.
Given "Hope" barely went Top 30 from his previous album as a follow-up, I have no idea where this will go, but it is undoubtedly more radio-friendly than "Hope" was.

Great song. I really hope this does well.

I would have gone with "The Upsetter" next, but this works. This album seems a lot more single-ready than Sleep Through the Static. I'm with the folks who see this as more of the Johnson they prefer. I don't dislike STtS, but it has more limited replay value for me than most of his others.

I don't dislike STtS, but it has more limited replay value for me than most of his others. I think "Sleeping Through the Static" hasn't resonated with me as much as his other albums because, while his previous albums had a fine balance of more upbeat and downbeat material, material that focused on the carefree joys of life with material focused on political themes and the life and death binary..........."Sleeping Through the Static" was almost entirely devoted to the latter, making for a much drowsier and disengaging listen. I know Johnson said he intended to release the Curious George movie soundtrack and "Sleeping Through the Static" back-to-back intentionally to represent day and night essentially, but regardless it wasn't as convincing a listen. Goes for Alt. adds September 20. Essentially, tomorrow. They waited too long. I think this may be the first secondary Jack Johnson single that will fail to chart to date. A shame, too, because this is a standout track of his to me on "To The Sea" with the electric guitar-driven sound and harmonica-laced outro. Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus
