We instituted signature restrictions nearly 7 years ago, shortly after PMB was founded. The only difference is now we have a board code to effortlessly enforce that. :)
I'm open to discussions on whether or not to change the signature size limit, though.
Edit: Technically, there has been a long-standing rule on signature images. The code we have put in enables us to cut off only the entire signature (including text or other things) at x pixels wide and x pixels high. That may mean it would be reasonable to be a little more lenient on the size of the entire signature.

Signature's are a luxury anyway. I would say a signature doesn't NEED to be any more than 300 x 150 in order to be effective, but as someone who does graphic design, 500 x 300 should be the maximum if you ask me.
I think some of the longer signature's were very organized though and still looked very nice without cluttering things up to much (specifically LockHeart's comes to mind).
I guess I'm a little on the fence.
As somebody who doesn't use big signature's, I'm all for this, but as a graphic designer I want to push for slightly larger limits.
Sorry, I sound like a drunken real estate agent.
