Damn at Airplanes not reaching the #1 spot. I hate it when almost the entire year there's only a few songs that I like, that get to peak high, yet in the summer everyone suddenly realises it's time to release their album... I hate it when only one song gets all the spotlight. Let it squeeze 1 week @#1, Damn!

Gaga really lucked out with last week's chart reformulation to get Alejandro in the top 5. If only Paparazzi had managed a top 5 week! She'd tie Janet for having 7 top 5 singles from one album (although, of course, with the disclaimer of it being a re-release). Actually she wouldn't as Billboard counts it as two albums because there was more than a couple of new tracks on the re-release. Billboard counts the two albums separately. Janet's 7 top 5 singles came from the same original album without a re-release and additional tracks added later on to extend the life of the album. Janet also had an 8th song hit the Top 5 in radio airplay called "State of the World". |

I don't think LTWYL will do that but we will see. California girls airplay is just so huge right now. I don't like the song california girls but hey the radio loves it and i guess thats all that matters. |

Of course Billboard lumps the original The Fame album with The Fame deluxe edition. But because The Fame Monster was released on its own, the new singles count as singles from that release- they just happen to be included in the re-release of The Fame, too. For instance, "Bad Romance," "Telephone" and "Alejandro" are not the fifth, sixth and seventh singles from The Fame; more accurate to say they're the first, second and third singles from The Fame Monster.
I do get what you're saying, but this is different, though, from Taylor Swift having- 13?- Hot 100 entries from Fearless, as there only was a re-release, and not a separately released EP containing the new tracks.

I did not realize BB did not count The Fame Monster singles as being from The Fame.
This seems like such a sketchy area... it seems a bit of a cheat then that re-releases don't have the same treatment. By making a more customer-friendly decision, Gaga appears to have nullified some potential chart achievements.
Oh well!

Only us chart headz know the difference. ;) The Fame Monster is sold as its own individual album even though you can buy the album as a 2 pack with The Fame. Does the average music listener think Rihanna had 12 songs from one album because she kept releasing singles without a break? Maybe they do but same difference. |

I think the average person does know something about Lady GaGa, but no one really cares about chart positions, albums, and what Billboard considers the same album or an EP. Same for who got a #1 in the UK, when you live in the US.
