Why doesn't Eminem get any airplay on R&B and hip hop radio? His album is massive right now and yet he's not on the top 100 here. Has he fared well on this chart in the past?

I think it's interesting how quickly mainstream radio has moved away from R&B and hip hop. Of the top 20, only 2 songs (Find Your Love and OMG) have even made the top 20 on Billboard or the top 40 radio.

Also, congrats to Alicia for yet another week at #1!

^Alicia hasn't sent her song for adds at the pop format. You have to actually send the song to the format to get airplay generally. It didn't used to be that way but since about 2001 Pop radio stations hesitate more and more to play songs that aren't officially released for adds. I think record companies are crazy for limiting what radio stations can play. Radio stations should have the freedom to play whatever they think is good rather than what the record companys want.

Pop radio is overrated as well. Just because a song is a pop song doesnt mean its any better than any other song.. its just a shame that pop radio controls the charts. Alicia keys Unthinkable SHOULD be the #1 song on the Hot 100. I do think that radio stations should have freedom to play whatever they want..regardless of genre especially "POP" radio which is suppose to reflect whats hot in America right now.

I hate how people think of pop radio as (almost)important as BH100. It is just one of many radio formats.
CHRT/TOP40 is so boring and songs are overplayed. All the song sound the same. I'm so sick of that repeatative cheap electro pop!
Back in 90's #1 song had around 4000 plays and nowdays it surpasses 13k.

Top 40 format is a joke. I remember when Tupac, Alanis Morristette, Oasis, and Brandy could all be played within the same hour. If a song was in the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100, it got played Top 40 stations, because.......you know.....IT WAS IN THE TOP 40! lol

Why don't they just start calling the format Pop?

who would be complaining? If anyone were complaining they would just be deemed as racist. Artists like Alicia keys shouldn't have to send her song to pop they should just play it regardless. Isnt radio suppose to play music that's good rather than spinning the same song 7 times in the same hour? What about variety?? A few years ago "TOP 40" radio played a lot of Hip/hop and R&b songs they didnt play the really raw rap songs but at least it was diverse but now its just like from you sing a pop song youre gonna be higher on the charts than r&b/hiphop songs because your radio format is the only one that counts.
