*elongated sigh* You probably want me to click that, don't you? Is it really worth the trouble?

Lead single from "Sugar". Goes for adds August 17th. I liked album one (and the preceding EP / followup live EP), so I'm interested in hearing what they have to bring this time around.

But you're on your own with that play button. I haven't clicked play (yet), but I vaguely remember this in the 40's on the chart a couple years ago. At least I remember now it's not some also-ran Active Rock band whose music I successfully avoided.

^I haven't heard this current single yet (I'll probably check it out in a bit), but "The Rat" was a pretty cool song imo.
I'm only bumping this because I was about to make the thread for it, but saw that it had already been made. Anyway, it's been steadily getting a small handful of adds the last few weeks. We'll see if it can match the modest success of "The Rat".
Also, according to allmusic.com, "The Rat" reached #39 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart, so it may have gone top 40 on mediabase alternative too, though you Nick have the records, not I.
EDIT: Upon one listen to this single, my first impression is fairly unremarkable. I went back and listened to "The Rat" though, and I'm still digging it.

Well, let's see here. Let me take a look... ...I have it peaking at #43. That's a fairly significant discrepancy between the two charts. Weird. EDIT: ...And you said "eunuch."

I always find it odd when i see such large discrepancy's like The Rat had. does mediabase or billboard have more alt stations for the chart?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that question. I don't know which panel is bigger, but I'd say billboard's alternative panel contains a few more borderline alternative/active stations that billboard lists as alternative and mediabase lists as active. Perhaps those stations liked "The Rat" or at least played it more than they played a bunch of indie songs at the bottom of the alternative chart. Usually alternative-exclusive songs like "The Rat" do better on mediabase than on billboard given the discrepancies in the panel, so "The Rat" is an exception to that rule. Maybe "The Rat" just did better on the Monday update than the Sunday update? That's all I got as far as possible reasons.

Great song.
Mediabase chart run was 47-47-45-43-43-44-44-50-50.
I always thought the Billboard chart was more active rock leaning also. I think this assumption of mine developed in 2008 when Tantric's "Down and Out" reached the BB top 40 but reached only #47 on Mediabase, and I think there was some other active rock song that did the same. I don't see "The Rat" charting on MB's active rock chart. I've only heard the song once on the radio, and that was while streaming KNDD (I might have heard it more than once there). So based on these these facts, I also would not have expected the song to chart higher on BB than MB.

I loved The Rat......strangely this is NOTHING like that and I really like it too. I would honestly think it was two completely different bands if I didn't already know it wasn't.

I finally got around to spinning Sugar (I've been behind on listening to recent releases; damn work) and this doesn't sound anything like what I expected based on previous work. That said, I like it far better than Wrecking Ball.
