I love how LTWYL keeps going up. Makes me think it will stay at #1 on the Hot 100 for at least two to three more weeks.

As long as LTWYL is riding high on the charts, the longer the album will be dominating the charts.

Yeah i think people are assuming it's going to be played as much as california gurls. i don't think thats a given. One thing is for sure. I think Teenage Dream has a better chance than that new usher pitbull song to get to #1. I just think them releasing Teenage Dream now buy's LTWYL a couple extra weeks at #1. Because i see LTWYL having a couple more 300K weeks digitally. This week for sure. Maybe next week. I don't see it outselling ltwyl by over 90K digitally. I have a feeling that EM's song will be #1 until late August. I feel as though Katy will increase in sales over time and hit its peak album release week and the week of VMAs...assuming she would perform. That said, her airplay would be up by then but if she doesn't get it I think usher's will. Although it hasn't grown on me yet you have to remember he gets played on multiformats like Em. It's harder for artists like Katy who have two given formats and then Rhythmic which is chancey for her depending on the song...in comparison to Usher and Em who will have at least 3 formats and sales. Usher might block katy but oh well.

I would be floored if it's not top ten. I may not be the biggest Katy fan but no doubt she is in right now. I thought Usher's new song would be the one to challenge LTWYL but that was before i realized Katy was releasing Teenage Dream - Single, so soon. And that Usher song while gaining in airplay hasnt really benefited in terms of sales. Perry is already at 5 on iTunes and is at like no airplay as of right now. But it's gaining more everyday.
I think im under estimating Eminem really but i do that because im so afraid of being called an Eminem stan. So while it could be till late august im not counting my chickens yet. I think it will do two more weeks for sure.
But i do think Katy will hit #1. I just think some people are thinking it will hit #1 quicker than it actually will. But could Usher's new song pick up and it be a race between Perry and Usher? Yeah it could.

trust me, everyone thinks you're a stan, no need to hide anymore. It's ok.
having said that, i predict Eminem will stay 6 weeks at #1, and then either Usher or Katy will get it, swapping #1 or #2 for each, of course. I don't think there is any other competition. Kesha will hit top 10 at the most, but not #1.

I'm not a stan. I think that term is so horrible. I don't think anybody on this forum is going to drive off a cliff with there significant other in the trunk just because a certain artists doesnt know they exist. I just think it's a disrespectful term. I hate to use it. I only use it when i feel like someone is calling me a stan. Honestly i think it's disrespectful when anybody uses it, myself included.

i sent you a message, read it.
being a stan isn't a bad thing, imo. It just means you like an artist. I don't see the harm in it. I can say i'm a stan for a few artists, and i don't feel bad about it. It's ok dude. Live and let live...

I just i have always used the term die-hard fan. I think "Stan" has a disrespectful tone. Like an insult. That's how the term is used on a lot of hip hop forums and stuff. So i just have always thought of stan as a disrespectful term. Even if it's not necessarily meant that way. I don't know whats so wrong with having favorite artists. I'm a huge Tool and Eminem fan. I always want them to do well. Like the person above me. It's fine to be a huge Britney fan. I don't think it makes you a stan if you want them to do well.

pretty ironic you taking the term "stan" as disrespectful or an insult when it is a direct reference to Eminem in the first place. But that's nothing...
i don't get offended by the term "stan" even in the slightest. This is just a website, it's just a chart-nerd forum. Who cares what anyone says...really. It's not real life. Is it?
glad we sorta see eye-to-eye.

I don't get the sudden use of the term "Stan". It was used in the Eminem song in 2000. I have been on these boards since 1999, it was used maybe five times outside of the context of that classic song.
Why has the term suddenly exploded in use on these boards just in the last 6 months? Is this just a Pulse thing?

I remember the first week I started people called me a Beysus stan <3. And I've been accused of being a TaySwift stan a few times. I really thing EmRi will be #1 on the Hot100 for a while. The video isn't even out yet, and with a "possible" VMA performance I think it's going to be hard for Ush or Katy to dethrone them for a while :) But I do hope Katy goes to #1 or at least top 3!

I completely agree but when you come into a topic that is not specifically about one artist and more about charts and majority of your posts are about your excitement for one artist than many would deem that a stan. I think he is but doesn't need to be offended by it. I don't see him saying to many out of line things except that comment on the BET awards subject so I doubt people view him as a stan in a negative way...I just think people kcoming into a topic like this where most of the Eminem posts are going to come from and that is not necessarily a bad thing.

Not really comparable cases though, Katy's single is the second off a yet-to-be-released album so obviously the demand and interest for the song is higher. Ke$ha's is the fourth single off an album that has been out since January...

That's what baffles me most about Eminem's popularity. I don't deny that he's extremely talented and has a better grasp of language than most could ever hope for, but I just can't be a fan of someone who promotes so much homophobia, violence, hatred, and misogyny. Such a waste for someone with so much potential.
