Now that Billboard is aware of the "Smile" situation, the big question is: Where will Uncle Kracker be? :)

Did anyone actually think that it would? It didn't have support at urban format like Single Ladies did - in fact, the feat it achieved on its own is quite incredible.

I find it funny that we're using Single Ladies as a finish line of sorts now, especially since that track didn't come close to Irreplaceable, No One or Lollipop in audience. With Urban and CHR not really picking up the same songs, I wonder when the next monster of that level will come along.

Now that Billboard is aware of the "Smile" situation, the big question is: Where will Uncle Kracker be? :) I hope it does re-enter...I'm not even a fan of Uncle Kracker's but I would hate to see him miss a potential top 40 hit just because of an oversight. If the song deserves to be there then it should be. Good thing you sent them an e-mail! I can't believe the label hadn't pushed for it (though it seems their promo for this song has been wonky all along).

+ Bey's was preceded by a bunch of #1 singles & #1 albums, the relative scarcity of white artists topping airplay at all in the last bunch of years, & the OMGICONIC status of Single Ladies' video.

It's too bad the airplay for David Guetta has stalled. I was hoping it could be a fun summer dance track but even as it's sales are steady, it's already on the decline at radio.

I hope Top 5 or top 10 debut for Katy's Teenage Dream. There's something I don't et about the music industry nowadays. California Gurls was released 2 months ago and it was this monster hit. Now they're already moving on to the second single, and still the album is one month away. Wouldn't the album have benefited from Gurls's momentum? Wouldn't it have sold more had it been released at the peak of its popularity? It seems to me that insteading of holding the album for two whole months they could've put it in stores and sold thousands of copies.

Yep. That's why i was thrilled with Teenage Dreams release. It may keep LTWYL at #1 on the Hot 100 for a little while longer. If they would have waited a few weeks after LTWYL quieted down Teenage Dream could have made it to #1 on the Hot 100 by Digital Sales Alone. Now that won't do it because LTWYL is continuing to get a lot of airplay and sell a lot Digitally.
I do see the other point where they want people to download it legally and therefore will sacrifice that. idk.

Eh right now I like Lie 50% more than Teenage & would be happy if Teenage never made it to #1. Though I think Not Afraid is actually mildly bad & wish it would die already.

Many people were predicting Teenage Dream would fly to #1 in its first full week of sales. We will see if she gets her second #1 on the hot 100 for this era or not in the next week or so! I personally think it has a better shot once airplay and the video kick in.

Yeah i think people are assuming it's going to be played as much as california gurls. i don't think thats a given. One thing is for sure. I think Teenage Dream has a better chance than that new usher pitbull song to get to #1. I just think them releasing Teenage Dream now buy's LTWYL a couple extra weeks at #1. Because i see LTWYL having a couple more 300K weeks digitally. This week for sure. Maybe next week. I don't see it outselling ltwyl by over 90K digitally.

Alejandro about to drop out of the mediabase top 20. Surely that will be the first top 20 without a Lady GaGa song since before Just Dance, right?

I don't get why some still try comparing one track against another. Once you reach the levels enjoyed by "Single Ladies" or "California Gurls," 5-10m doesn't make much of a difference. SL probably did have a higher urban audience peak than CG garnered from Hot AC and AC- nonetheless, that's two formats combined competing against one.
Did Aguilera's track go for official radio play? Not that it matters at this point.
Billboard likely will chart "Smile" next week, per my inquiry.

It's actually 11m ;) And it's irrelevant how much Urban play SL got, because they were both played at 3 formats (CG at 4 actually)

Well, as stated, urban radio's audience reach is larger than those of AC and Hot AC, so it's relevant to mention as much. Nonetheless, didn't "Single Ladies" also chart on Hot AC/Adult Pop Songs? 3

^ SL never reached 80 million AI on Pop radio. If we're going to compare both track airplay peak, we really can see that their total auience didn't really came from the same radio formats. CG was able to go this high thanks to enourmous Pop play and some very high HAC plays too, while SL had Urban airplay in it's favor plus way bigger Rythmic spins and audience too. In my opinion it's more interesting to compare CG with "tik tok" and "Bad Romance" as they appeal to the same audience and were played on the same radio formats, or SL with "Rude Boy" for the same reasons.
