The T3 entries hit less hard than I expected. Wayne not T5, Nelly not T10, Katy not T40. I'm thinking Last Friday Night might not hit T40 either.
Taylor held up better than I'd expected, or even hoped. With people all smug about her being 14 on iTunes for a few days, I would have thought this song which has only had 3 weeks of airplay would have dropped harder.

Pitbull currently has two featured entries in the Top Five. He made an impression last summer as a principle performer, and now he's making an impression this summer as a featured one.
I've been predicting that "Hey, Soul Sister" will leave the Billboard Hot 100 before "Need You Now" does. The latter just seems like the type of song more likely to have stubborn longevity, and the jump this week confirms that. It might even have a shot at the longevity record if it can survive until the holiday season, where the chart freeze period will work to its advantage.

The only chart that is frozen is Dance (Club Play) -- and that's for one week. And honestly I'm not sure if they even still do that anymore?

When and how does the chart freeze during the holidays? The charts don't actually freeze during any point during the holidays. It may have been something they did many years ago, but that hasn't been the practice in a long time. I'm guessing what's meant is that charts tend to stagnate between Thanksgiving and New Year's due to Xmas music and year-end countdowns. Therefore, if NYN can last until then, it's basically got a bye for about six weeks.

The NYN jump this week was, probably, strictly caused by the exclusive Lady A. digital album which was featured on the iTunes Store last week, fueling download sales of the song (jumped from #65 to #27 on Digital Songs).
However, as we speak, HSS is still no. 39 and NYN is back to no. 62 on the iTunes best selling songs rank.

Yes, the holiday freeze is about how radio plays old music, and old songs go up on iTunes because of gift cards and stuff like that.

I'm surprised at Bruno Mars being in the Top 10.

Glee will move ahead Elton with just one more episode.

Glee will move ahead Elton with just one more episode. If Glee lasts long enough, I'm sure it will eventually head the list. But Glee's statistics are very misleading, because Glee songs tend to make a big splash and then drop off the chart very quickly, which is hardly the pattern for most Hot 100 entries. And I'll be shocked if Glee ever scores a #1 hit.
